Any pansexuals here?

I am talking about sex. What physical, biological sex is your body? If a baby is born with penis and testicles, we call it a boy. We don't wait around for it to grow up and tell us its preferred gender role.

That is all I'm saying. I'm not talking about gender. I'm not talking about sexual preference. I'm talking about the physical sex of a person at the time that it is born. Nothing more.

Sex, Sexuality, and Gender are three different things.

Why does it matter, though? This whole avenue of discussion was pushed along by ignorant, pointless posts (as an aside, I'm not referring to you). We're talking about pansexuality and attraction to others regardless of their gender. I love whom I love, whether they have a penis or a vagina, both or neither. It is not their gender which brings about my attraction.

Where did I say it mattered? I'm stating biological facts, and you're the one arguing against them.

Plus, sometimes threads are allowed to, ya know, change topics as a result of the conversation. I haven't been talking about pansexuality or attraction or love at all in these last few posts.

No, you're giving your idea on what you consider to fit the criteria of a man or a woman. You're not stating "biological facts". As I've already pointed out in thread, there are biologists who disagree with the idea that sex organs define gender, which is why I talked about intersexed people, something you found irrelevant to the conversation even though it speaks directly to what you're positing as "biological fact". You see, biological sex includes sexual organs, yes, but is also chromosomal and hormonal. You cannot base one's gender off of anatomy alone.

It doesn't mean inanity has to be propagated as if it forces the question. We get enough of that in our daily news media.

And if you'd actually read what I'm writing, you'd notice that I never once tried to define gender.

You certainly have. You stated this:

So you're talking about it's gender but not it's gender. You make the remark that because it has a penis and testicles, it's a boy, and that we "don't wait around for it to grow up and tell us it's preferred gender role". You just defined it's gender based on it's sexual organs, and yet you're telling me it's not about gender when I just told you that to define gender under the biological traits, the traits you say from which you are making this point, it requires combining the information about it's sex organs, hormones and chromosomes. The sexual organs are a part of gender, but do not carry the whole of the definition.

And again, I am defining Sex. Sex and Gender are NOT the same thing (and that is something I don't think you're understanding). Yes, I understand that beyond the sex organs we can look at things like chromosomes and hormones, but I'm really not trying to make this that difficult.

Let's put this another way:

If you're born with a penis, you're a male until proven otherwise.

If you're born with a vagina, you're female until proven otherwise.

If you're born with both/neither, you're not male or female. You're something else. It's okay to be something else.

Again, I am talking strictly about physicality. I know that there other things that go into determining a person's gender, but that's not what I'm talking about right now. Stop acting like it is. You keep arguing with me about points that I'm not even making.

I'm going to bed. Don't expect me back here any time soon.

Then I misunderstood. When you used the term biological, it still incorporated not only sex organs, but also chromosomes and hormones, and that's what I was basing my answers upon. You're talking about "sex" sex. Got ya.

Goodnight.

^ I'd actually like to thank the both of you for heating up the argument. You've distracted our readers from my own personal rather common views. :alienblush: :lol:

Or, to put it another way:

"Would you please continue the petty bickering? I find it intriguing." ;)

Ha! :lol:

you're either a male or a female. or your a shemale
Incidentally (and FYI), a shemale is solely a type of sex worker, like a prostitute, someone who does pornography or some such.

Unless that how you intended to use the term.

:)

Guys, CHROMOSOMES!

XX = female.

XY = male.

If a person has no penis but has XY chromosomes, he's male.

^ about 1% of the human population don't fit into those groups, because they have non-standard sex chromosomes. It's a lot more people than you might think. Most won't know they are until they discover they are infertile, and seek an explanation.

XXY = ?
X_ = ?

And what about people with genetic mozaicism? eg, 50% of their body tissue is XX; 50% of their body tissue is XY.

I've also been attracted to cross-dressers and male-to-female transsexuals. I doubt I could actually date a cross-dresser that didn't identify as female on the inside but I might be willing to make out with them. When it comes to my sexuality I've adapted the philosophy of "We'll make it up as we go along" and I just roll with it.

So if I understand you correctly so long as a man dressed as a woman most of the time you'd be ok playing with his dick?

Really? I knew about XXY (which can lead to hermaphrodism, and part of the novel idea I mentioned earlier), but didn't know about X_, what does that result in? I'd heard of people being a chimaera, completely different sets of DNA in the same body, but not of mosaicism. Fascinating. What would that do to you?

Also, there's XYY, which is a whole different ball game apparently. :)

(Just want to throw in here, Jadzia, you are on my list of most admired smart people. Anytime I ask a question, you have a cogent and concise answer, and your polymath abilities are a constant and pleasant surprise. Well done and thank you).
