The 5 worst sci-fi series of all-time

Do you guys have any worse scifi TV series after 1964?
I think the only one I've seen above was the original Battlestar Galactica and I was under age 6. Too young to even know.
[1978-79 The pilot +] 17 original episodes of the series were made (five of them two-part shows), equivalent to a standard 24-episode TV season.
Was it really that awful? according to Wiki
a re-edited pilot was released outside the USA as a movie in the cinema
If it was so bad you couldn't turn a pilot into a cinema release that people would pay tickets for.
two other Battlestar Galactica feature films were released in cinemas. Both Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack and Conquest of the Earth were made up of various episodes of the original series and Galactica 1980 respectively

Battlestar Galactica did have nice modelwork and costuming and so on - and in these respects closely resembled a film by George Lucas whose title has slipped my mind - so yes, presenting it as a film version isn't a completely ridiculous idea... although just slamming on a standalone episode about that casino planet with the bug people is one anticlimactic way to end a movie.

It's not something that'd make the cut for my list of best sci-fi shows though, to put it succinctly.

What I've seen of Cleopatra 2525 is absolutely dire, although one of the actresses went on to play what's her face in Firefly, the first officer.

Hey, I liked CLEOPATRA 2525! It was good, goofy fun, and the theme song made me smile every week. Plus, it had Gina Torres and Victoria Pratt. I'd rather watch it than the original GALACTICA any day.

And it's probably worth noting that ELEKTRA WOMAN and THE LOST SAUCER were both Saturday morning shows aimed at kids, so, yeah, of course they're going to seem stupid and juvenile to grown-up viewers . . . .

My own candidate for the worst sf show I've ever seen: BLACK SCORPION, with the dire live-action CONAN tv series giving it a run for its money.

I really liked Victoria Pratt, Lauren Lee Smith & Karen Cliche on Mutant X...it wasn't the best show...but it had alot of promise...if given a budget and some better writing...which wasn't bad by any means...IMO.

I just noticed on the Hulu page for Cleo 2525 it recommends you might also like Conan the Adventurer.:) Shows like Cleo and Black Scorpion are hard to judge because they were meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

I guess I'm too tainted by my youth to see Galactica as awful as everyone else seems to, sure it's not exactly hard sci-fi but I do find it entertaining.

I think I'd have to throw The Starlost into the mix as the most dire of that brand of 70's sci-fi.

BSG was some of the best sci-fi TV of the 70's. Whoever made that list is an idiot.

You want bad?
How about "The Powers of Mathew Star"?
or the sitcom with the little girl robot? Have no clue what it was called - wait, "Small Wonder"?

CLEOPATRA 2525 is so bad its good, and it did have some assets. (pun intended)

needs to add Earth: Final Conflict

My pick - The Event (2010-2011). This was a lousy show with an idiotic ending. (Let's put a planet between the moon and Earth.:wtf:)

^ Wow, spoiler! Not that I was going to watch it after the first few eps. A planet between the Earth and Moon? A bit sucky. Is that true?

Cleopatra 2525 should not be on that list. The theme song alone makes is grade A fun.

Hah! That sales comparison is very apt.

The difference between CLEO and BLACK SCORPION is competence. CLEO was camp done with a bit of flair and wit; SCORPION was tryng to do the same thing, but so ineptly that it was just painful to watch.

It's like the difference between, say, BARBARELLA and GALAXINA . . .

The original Galactica movie was also released in the US, I saw it in Sensurround!

...and Galactica 1980 has to be on this list somewhere!

Original BSG wouldn't do well today, and is a bit juvenile and dated, but, there are much worse series. Some already mentioned, plus the Flash Gordon TV series SyFy did a couple years back.

I haven't seen Quark since I was a kid and it originally aired, but, it was meant to be a parody/satire, so unless it failed at that, it doesn't belong on the list of worst ever, either.

Agreed. While not exactly a classic, the Original Galactica is head and shoulders above alot of other sci-fi shows, weither they were made in 1964 or (ugh) today.

And, it just occurred to me that you were probably being sarcastic, but I don't care.

The only bad sci-fi TV that comes to mind for post 1964 would be the NEW Galactica.

And, I will admit, (grudgingly) Galactica 1980.

...Quark (1977, NBC)

Quark was supposed to be a parody of other science fiction, including Star Trek and Star Wars. In that context, I thought it succeeded quite well.

And how come nobody's mentioned Lost in Space? Even when I was 10 years old, I thought that was pretty bad.
