How satisfied are you with your job?

I really enjoy my current job, though I'm really not making much money at the moment. I actually gave up my better-paying bartending job for my current position, but I think there is something to be said for not hating going to work every day.

Good days, bad days. Moderately unsatisfactory pay, excellent and inexpensive benefits. But the latter is the trade-off I get for the various advantages of working in academia.

I get paid well, but my expenses are equally high

Work is great, I have a fantastic boss and a manageable workload, as evidenced by my presence on these forums

I usually enjoy my job and it pays well. I'm working on making it a better job, though. I'm sure I'm a pain in the ass that way.

Pretty much sums it all. Love the job, except when I hate it. The pay is pretty much crap, but that's expected for a science researcher and I knew it beforehand, so there is really no point in complaining for me. On the other hand, I get to travel around, work on really interesting stuff, and meet some truly brilliant people, so it's a fair trade. And if I ever need a reminder why I am doing all this, I just need to look up in a clear night, and the stars are always there to remind me.

I leave for work at 4 am.. have about an 1:15 minute drive to work, slave away all day while dealing with ignorant morons and then my boss calls every 30 minutes to check in on me. But, I make about 4 times as much as my last job, so I don't complain.

Yeah, I am working on my making my job better, too. I've only been working here for 3 months, and I knew the pay was crap going in, but I also knew that there was a lot of potential for more pay down the road. I'm just trying to bide my time until that happens.

I was hired for my quality background and it's been mostly wasted. But I've finally made enough allies in the company that I can make a serious push for change, and we're putting together a proposal and pilot project. Should be interesting.

I like it well enough. I get 6 weeks off a year and I get to go to the gym if I want every day. Pay is meh, but I make enough to pay m bills and do what I want. The worst thing is that my job will probably end this year, though I hope that I can stay with my current employer when thus contract is up.

I get 6 weeks off a year
Not to rub it in the face of anyone, but that's pretty much the standard here. Most people get 6 weeks of paid holidays during the year. Some people get more, some people less, but that's usually their choice. You guys on the other side of the pond work way too much in my opinion, to the detriment of your health and well-being.

I am not going to argue with you one bit.

Currently unemployed but I do Voluntary work in a charity shop between 7-14 hours a week depending on how busy we are and if any staff are away on hoilday/sick leave. I have no issue with it apart from sometimes people annoy me :p and would gladly do it as a paid job but I am looking for something in Admin/Data Entry. I thought I had found a £15,000 per year job the other week but didn't get it...close but not close enough :(

I just like the idea of working in a office really.

I love my job, and make OK money really. I'll never be jetting off to Vegas first class to piss away my millions, but I make a comfortable living wage which is all I'm really interested in. I don't have time to spend money
Things may become harder with upcoming pay freezes, loss of shift allowances, etc. But for now, I'm doin' OK.

I like it but don't make a lot of money at it, yet... although things are lining up to make a very profitable future in this endeavor.

On a daily basis it goes from "wow, we are all going to get filthy rich from this" to "we should shut down and quit right now". Did I mention one of my partners is bi-polar?

My old job before the studies I liked well enough most of the time. It did not pay well though.
My new job after the studies I think (otherwise I would not study it) I will like as well, a little more even than my old job, but it also does not pay good.
Always seem to pick the careers that have a lot responsibiliy, but pay way to little for it. Oh well... who needs money. I live of air and love alone! ;)

The American work ethic is that "work" is its own reward.

We "live to work" whereas the rest of the civilized world "works to live."
