Schwarzenegger halts acting projects

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

Bieber is going to be busy with the 'Back To The Future' remake. :rommie:

I don't mind seeing Arnold again..wait!? Tom Welling is free now. :p

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

Arnold should go back to making prank phone calls.

"Who's your daddy and what does he do?"

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

This is why we needed OJ to play The Terminator. This would have never have happened with OJ.....

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

If they don't wait on Ahnuld it's a guaranteed fail.

Part of me hates how synonymous Terminator is with Arnold. If the Terminator equals Arnold, then Terminator is old, outdated, and irrelevant.

And so the hell what?

The first Terminator movie will be considered a classic for a long time; the second was even more successful. That was largely Arnold.

If Terminator ends, that's not even a little bit tragic; no one's life is diminished by not having an endless supply of the exact same brand of junk food. Hollywood churning out tacky sequel movies and tv series forever - and that's what they've done with Terminator - is not something that needs to be encouraged.

Hm. And Kirk is Shatner.

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

The difference between the movie sequels and The Sarah Connor Chronicles is that TSCC was only a ratings failure, not a creative failure. If anything, it was probably too smart for its own good, which could never be said about the third and fourth movies.

While I think SCC had some things going for it, it had many many more things going against it. It really wasn't that smart at all. I think it was a case of the ratings reflecting the quality.

That's what TSCC did. It was explicitly set in an alternate timeline where T3 never happened. And I don't recall there being much confusion about that premise.

I remember seeing a lot of people (presumably more casual fans) asking about why Kate wasn't there or the events of T3 didn't happen. Maybe not the brightest bulbs, but I think plenty such people exist.

Also, SCC ignored several parts of T2. It was pretty clear that they wanted to just do their own thing, which is fine.

The fuck, too old? He's 43, for crying out loud, 21 years younger than Arnold. And where was Arnold 21 years ago? Preparing for Terminator 2. What the hell do you want? Justin Bieber?

I think an actor in his late 20s or early 30s would be preferable if they are looking to continue it as any kind of big franchise. If it was just a one-off movie with no one else taking on Arnold's role in the future, Kickinger would probably be fine. But you know that they're going to just keep on milking it for as long as they can, so it makes sense to choose someone younger if they're in the habit of having reoccurring roles.

Again, I think having Arnold or even his specific type of terminator (or skin) in any future installment is kind of stupid anyways. If Arnold is too old, then just make different kinds of terminators. Forget about Kickinger.

Are you expecting me to disagree with all of this? The general premise was that Terminator would continue on as a franchise. If it is to continue on as a franchise, it's going to have to ignore Arnold because he just can't fit into the role anymore. The possibility that it wouldn't continue (which would be fine by me) is kind of a moot point, especially since it isn't going to happen.

Saying that Arnold defines the franchise strikes me the same as the nonsensical yammering of those people who thought Shatner defined Star Trek.

Re: Schwarzenegger halts actings projects

I think because already two movies and a show have tried to be a sequel and have failed.

The difference between the movie sequels and The Sarah Connor Chronicles is that TSCC was only a ratings failure, not a creative failure. If anything, it was probably too smart for its own good, which could never be said about the third and fourth movies.

While I wouldn't call the show a creative failure, I also wouldn't shower it with praise nor refer to it as "too smart". TSCC had an engaging, if shallow, first season. The second season lost any sort of momentum by dumbing down the show (by seemingly giving it a "Terminator of the Week" formula) while trying to weave an increasingly convoluted story arc.

Arnold's Animated 'Governator' Gets Terminated

A rep for the animated project -- Arnold's first after leaving office -- tells TMZ, "In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, POW, Stan Lee Comics, and Archie Comics, have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project."

The rep would not specify if the project is completely dead or just postponed until Arnold's personal issues blow over.

One potential problem was the show's plot ... Arnold's character was supposed to fight crime with the help of his wife Maria and their four kids.

Damn, that last sentence really made me laugh. Of course Maria wouldn't be helping her husband fight crime after what he did. :rommie:
