Worst Dialogue in Trek

What was the episode where Riker ordered 'Warp 2' and Geordi responded with 'Aye sir, full impulse'. Or something like that...

DAMMIT JIM! Everyone has already stolen everything I was going to say. :rommie: Why can I never get to these threads fast enough? With the caveat that George Lucas can beat any of this in his sleep, I second the nominations for:

All I got left is my bones"....

Clunky and awkward to be sure, what makes this line UTTERLY PATHETIC is that it is attempting to explain McCoy's nickname (not "Hang 'Em High McCoy" for the L&O fans), but that "Bones" as a nickname for McCoy is clearly from the old "Saw Bones" nickname from the 19th century. Basically, 2009 Trek writers thought, "Our audience is really fucking stupid, so lets spoon feed them". Forget the lack of poetry, this line fails in epic proportion because it assumes we're all fucking morons.
Yes, cringeworthy.

Cochrane: "So you're astronauts, on some kind of star trek."

I'll admit I thought that was kinda cute. ;)

Picard in "Sins of the Father" gives orders to set course for "the Klingon Imperial Empire".

Imperial Empire? Really??

Klingons never do anything halfway!!! And that was a bad translation, it's actually "Imperialistic Imperial Empire of Empiretude."

Pretty-much anything that came out of Tasha Yar's mouth in the first season of TNG. Espeically the "just say no to drugs" speech to Wesley.

Maybe it was Crosby's acting, maybe the writiers didn't know what they wanted from the character, maybe it was both.

Don't blame Crosby. Meryl Streep couldn't have made that crap work.

But the winner for all time (at least, I hope it is):

The Gazelle speech.

Waitwaitwait! I thought of two that none of you mentioned yet:

Kirk's speech in The Omega Glory:

Cloud William: Ay plegli ianectu flaggen, tupep like for stahn...

Captain James T. Kirk: And to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The first version is a more accurate rendering from what I remember of grade school. :p How could Kirk forget about Richard Stans???

And of course, BRAIN AND BRAIN! WHAT IS BRAIN???

From TSFS

ESTEBAN : Transporter room, stand by to energise.
HELM : Aye sir. Energising now.

Captain James T. Kirk: And to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
I'd place that under Best Dialog in all the different Star trek series, beautifully spoken by Shatner.

James T. Kirk: "Yes. I lost a brother once. I was lucky I got him back."

Referring to Spock's death in TWOK, apparently Star Trek fans will be "too stupid" or have forgotten James Kirk's brother George Samual Kirk. He was also lost ONCE.

:)

SPOCK PRIME: (watching overhead) Thrusters on full.

And then, funnily enough, the following scene:

[Enterprise bridge]
SULU: Engineering thrusters and impulse engines at your command, sir.
CHEKOV: Weapons systems and chutes on standby.
UHURA: Dock control reports ready, Captain.
(Kirk enters the bridge in his Captain's uniform)
KIRK: Bones, buckle up. (to comm) Scotty...

[Engineering]
KIRK: (on comm)... how we doin'?
SCOTT: Dilithium chambers at maximum, Captain. (to Ensign Keenser) Get down!

[Bridge]
KIRK: Mister Sulu, prepare to engage thrusters.
(Spock enters the bridge)
SPOCK: Permission to come aboard, Captain.
KIRK: Permission granted.
SPOCK: As you have yet to select a first officer, respectfully, I would like to submit my candidacy. Should you desire, I can provide character references.
KIRK: It would be my honor, Commander. (to Sulu) Maneuvering thrusters, Mister Sulu.
SULU: Thrusters on standby.
KIRK: Take us out.
SULU: Aye aye, Captain.

Did they really not proofread?

Archer's gazelle speech for one, that made me cringe. Just how he compares his entire race to a struggling newborn animal...very Trek.

Sisko: "Klingons, Human's and Rooooooomulan's (from Tears Of The Prophets) So incredibly ham.

Data: "Oh Shiiiit!" (from GEN) There was no reason for them to have that in there.

Anything Troi says in TNG Season 1

Almost anything that came out of Garak's mouth
Not sure if serious.

Yeah, I pretty much hated Robinson's acting, and the lines he was given, especially when he started off with a smarmy "my DEAR doctor..." I know I'm probably alone in that.

Fair enough. The general consensus is that Garak is one of the best characters in Trek. I'm among that, however I do like to see individuality, especially when people provide a reason. If you don't like the way he delivers lines, then its your personal preference, you can't change that and go along with what everyone else thinks.

I for one aren't really all that keen on Janeway, despite the fact, many people are really into her character and voice it as one of the core reasons why VOY is their favourite series.

He didn't compare it to a new born gazelle, he contrasted it to the new born gazelle. Which was ready to run almost from birth. Human aren't. The point was we learn from doing and sometimes we make mistakes, but thats part of learning too.

Yeah I just realised how that sounds. What I meant to put was Archer compared certain human attitudes (running before learning to walk) with a gazelle. But cheers for pointing that out. Still, I think we both can agree it was a horrible delivery. And whats more mindboggling is the Vulcan's might not have any form of reference from which to compare. ENT really failed, when trying to emulate Picard's kind of speeches about Humanity.

Yeah, it was Bakula who dropped the ball. Though as T'Pol mentions in her follow up (and we know from watching Vulcans on Star Trek) Vulcans screw up too. So I think they might get the point.

Also, I think they were going Kirk not Picard. ;)

I don't think Vulcans know everything either. I know they know a lot more than humans because of their superior brain, but they still don't know everything. So, yeah, what they don't know will come back and kick them them their arse! So, yeah, they do make mistakes! :cardie:

Three pages so far, and no one's mentioned "Get the cheese to Sickbay"? (VOY, "Learning Curve") That was pretty lame.
