Increasingly get my news fix off internet. Used to avidly read newspapers but now declining for number of reasons: guilt over paper waste (yeah I know it gets recycled but still...); cycling more often to work (used to read paper on public transport, when lucky to get seat and not squashed in like sardine!). The Sunday paper was more a 'ritual' but even now feel 'got better things to do with time than plough through all that print'. How do others feel? Only time I still enjoy Sunday paper is when in LA, as I find the sheer bulk of paper hilarious and can happily spend 10-20 minutes just sorting the sections in order of preference...
On sunday's where I'm from the newspapers are stuffed into plastic bags hung from streetsigns and are basically free to take (technically it's theft, but most people don't pay, and the newspapers don't really care because they are at least selling more ads); so, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Mostly when my footballclub won on saturday I read the papers otherwise I don't bother.
I only read the Sunday paper, or any paper, if I'm in a restaurant or coffee shop and there's one lying around. I prefer to get my news online. A tad more timely that way.
I get all my news online. Sometimes I read the Saturday paper (which is the big one here) in my local cafe and I'm always astonished at how boring and dribble filled all the non-news sections are. I think reading it all the time as I did years ago I got acclimatized to that stuff, now it just seems like a huge waste of time.
I've never had a habit of reading newspapers, I get all my news online or through local news programs.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It's easier to read the news online. Hell, I don't even watch the TV news anymore.
My family still gets a subscription to the Seattle Times, weekday and weekend. I look for the advice columns and local stuff. On Sundays, I also look for the ads. But mostly, I go to the Internet.
Sunday news has to have certain criteria for me to buy the NYTimes 1. The Sunday has to be the 25th of the month not all Sundays are the 25th. 2. I have to still have enough money left for the end of the month. 3. be exposed to a newspaper for sale. The meeting said criteria is difficult since the third problem is being in the vicinity of a newspaper for sale is rare.
The only time I get to read a newspaper anymore is when I visit my parents. Ever since I can remember, my parents have subscribed to at least two different newspapers. My dad is obsessed with reading the news. I get all my news online.
Have to. It's the only way I get my Sunday funnies. Priorities! I do read daily papers as well. My choices are the New York Daily News and the New York Post. Unsurprisingly, the reason I chose the News is because it had the biggest selection of comics out of all the New York tabloids. (Of course, they've decreased their selection dramatically in the past year...bastards!!!) As for news, Sunday is really "in-depth" and feature day, so I don't go looking for earth-shattering scoops and breaking news.
Some comics have their own websites where you can see the day's strip. Examples: Dilbert Mother Goose & Grimm
Each thursday I get the best weekly newspaper here because it's simply just THAT good. Other than that: Internet.
But why on Earth anyone would go out of their way to read Mother Goose & Grimm, I don't know. Seriously, I often don't even give it a glance when I'm reading an actual newspaper. Anyway, if I pick up a paper any day of the week, it'll be Saturday, as they tend to be the biggest\most interesting here. Usually if I do it'll be the Globe and Mail, but I also like the Toronto Star on occasion.
