Sarah Michelle Gellar's show picked up - by CW!

Buffy fans rejoice!

Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to primetime as her CBS pilot Ringer is being picked up to series. But in a surprising twist, the series is going to CBS' sibling CW.
If you haven't heard about this, it's "a drama about a troubled young woman who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister until she learns that her twin's life has a bounty on it as well."

Other notable cast members: Ioan Gruffud and Nestor Carbonnell.

Okay that description sounds like a Lifetime movie that might be interesting for two hours, but I'm curious to check it out and see what they do with it.

Yay! :D I am glad it is going to be on The CW instead of CBS. :rommie:

Not gonna judge the show based on it, but just that one sentence description makes her sound incredibly stupid.

It really does. But I've learned not to judge a show by its title and description... Back in the day I thought Buffy would be a stupid show because of the title/subject and because I had seen the movie, I watched the first episode out of curiosity and of course saw I was wrong. :)

Probably has a better chance of surviving an entire season (and possibly getting renewed) on the CW as opposed to CBS... So possibly good news I guess.

Oh dear! CBS didn't check with ABC first and a fight is breaking out!

(I don't know if this bodes badly for the show or if CBS can just switch gears quickly on producing it):

I hear ABC Studios, which co-produced the pilot for Ringer with CBS Studios, is pulling out, citing that it cannot produce a series for the economics of the CW. This is ironic, as CW's new president Mark Pedowitz is the former head of ABC Studios. Under him, ABC Studios produced the CW series Reaper.

I guess ABC is throwing a fit that CBS thinks they make shows so they can reach two million 12 year old girls...there's definitely a disconnect between what Ringer sounds like, and the audience it's likely to get on the CW.

This has sweet f a to do with SF / Fantasy,by the sound of things; but it should be nice to see SMG back after way too long a hiatus.

Scooby Doo was huge.

You watch those movies and you totally forget who Buffy is.

Then, I've wanted to run away with Daphney and do rude things to her since I was four years old. Meanwhile over in the Wheedonverse, I was always more partial to Willow, not that Linda Cardilinni didn't rock the crap out of the Vhelma mind you.

Sounds like the plan is for the two bounties to be for opposing reasons. The mob wants her for one reason, their rivals wants the sister for another reason. Thus allowing her to play both sides in order to stay alive.

Just a wild guess, but it's what it sounds like to me.
