2011 MLB Season Discussion

I don't blame them. The best pitcher they have is Jo-Jo Reyes. :p

Now that'd be a depressing situation. I suspect the Jays will probably eventually replace Reyes with Brad Mills in the rotation, unless he shows that his last outing wasn't a fluke.

^ I don't think you can discount Romero, either. He hasn't been winning a lot of games, but that's not his fault, if his ERA is any indication. He had a bad start today, but he's generally looked good so far.

I'm just kidding about Blue Jays pitching... I just really dislike Reyes. A bag of Big League Chew would have better stats.

^ While I can't disagree at this point, be careful what you wish for. I remember a time when I dreaded seeing Chris Carpenter on the hill for the Jays... :p

Fuck you, Nate Adcock, you piece of shit, you HIT ROBINSON CANO!!!

Edit: ...and now AJ hits Francoeur. We-he-hellll....retaliation's a bitch, innit? :rommie:

^ Yeah right, like you wouldn't be saying the same thing if it was one of your precious Red Sox who got hit....

It wasn't the mere fact that Cano got hit that's the problem - that happens all the time. It's *where* he was hit. IN THE HEAD. He could be badly hurt. You don't just shrug off something like that.

Yep he got hit in the head, it sucks when it happens. It wasn't intentional however, so to say the pitcher is an idiot or asshole because of it, is because you're wearing your pinstriped pajamas, and because he hit the EXALTED Robinson Cano...how dare he? Don't you know he's a Yankee?! Im sure if AJ Burnett nailed a Royal in the head, you wouldn't be coming in here saying he's an asshole.

And the Yankees are the one who have Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen...who has thrown at the head of, and behind Kevin Youkilis multiple times now. Those in glass houses...

First off, Joba has never actually *hit* Youk. Second, why are you so quick to accuse Joba now, yet you so readily believe that Adcock didn't intentionally hit Cano?

It's because it's in the middle of a close game, with no history between the two parties, and a pitch got away and hit him in the head. Cano is a good hitter, he probably tried to go up and in to jam him, and it got away. Why does it have to be every time something bad happens to a Yankee, its always an intentional act?

Maybe I think the thing with Joba is intentional because he did it 4 times, including twice behind Youks, back, which he was suspended for.

You do know the Yankees aren't always noble, nor are they always the victim right?

^ Yeah, that would be an utterly stupid time to try to intentionally hit someone with a pitch. HBPs happen, and sometimes batters do get hit in the head.

Dude, standing at the plate in front of even a really good major league pitcher is dangerous business. Legends of the game like Satchel Paige and Nolan Ryan hit guys all the time. Chill the fuck out.

As a Jays fan, do I like it when Jose Bautista gets nailed? Of course not. But it happens pretty regularly and I don't assume everyone's gunning for my guys.

Well, pending the outcome of Cano's time in the hospital, I guess the case is closed. Adcock hits Cano, AJ hits Francoeur. End of story.

Over-react much?

It's baseball, guys get hit all the time. And if they intentionally throw at someone, it's generally not at their head.

... unless they're named Joba Chamberlain.

...or Pedro Martinez. Im a Sox fan through and through, and adore Pedro, but even I recognize he could be a headhunter when pissed off or shown up.

You stay classy, MLB! Get all worked up because a Yankee got hit, and yet no problem when one of your players hits one of theirs in retaliation? Either both are acceptable, or neither. Makes it worse, even, that Burnett throwing at Francoueur was on purpose (assume, given what's been said), whereas the first one might not have been. How's this better for Francouer?

For him personally? Wrong place, wrong time. (This is the AL, after all, so of course Adcock himself would never be in a position to be thrown at.)

But retaliation is a normal part of the game. Francoeur even admitted it. He wasn't angry that AJ threw at him, he pretty much knew it was coming. Of course Adcock claimed it was unintentional, and so did AJ. That is also part of the game. No pitcher ever admits throwing at someone. That's just not done. So sure, they both said it "Got away" from them - that's the standard answer they're supposed to give.

Used to be worse, though. Years ago, a batter would find himself on the ground just for batting after a teammate who'd just hit a home run....

Went to the Twins game last night. Had great seats- a friend managed to get us player comp tickets so we ended up sitting with all the Twins players' wives. It was awfully tough at times not to cut down the players (with Rene Rivera and his .000 average, I couldn't help but mouth off), but with all the wives sitting there we felt we had watch what we said. Kind of put a damper on things (seeing them lose yet again didn't help either).
