Netflix is thinking about bringing back cancelled TV shows

I enjoy having fun, but I don't see anything fun about perpetuating misconceptions. The article says nothing about Netflix resurrecting shows that have been gone for years. Giving the readers of this forum the impression that that might be the case is deceptive, and that's irresponsible at best, cruel at worst -- not fun at all.

Veronica Mars I think would have worked perfectly. Maybe this will happen by the end of next season so we get a conclusion of Fringe.

It's unrealistic to think this could bring Firefly or Farscape back to life.
It must be bleak to live in such a hopeless world.
I guess the world is bleak, then, because this is just the facts. The actors and writers who made those shows great have dispersed to the winds. Some of the actors like Adam Baldwin (no way Chuck is getting a renewal) and Jewel Staite might be at liberty but Nathan Fillion isn't going to dump Castle, and do we really want Firefly back without him? I personally would watch a spinoff series without him. I never thought he was absolutely essential to the show, but somehow I suspect I may be in the minority there. I'd watch the show just for Alan Tudyk (not sure if he has another gig too) but then we have the continuity issues...

Rockne O'Bannon is reportedly working on an Alien Nation reboot. I could see a Farscape spinoff with Browder and Black, and little D'argo who must be what, ten years old by now? The adventures of a zany spacefaring family onboard Moya, yeah that might be fun.

I must remember to use emoticons. Everybody always takes me WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

I love both of those shows, and while I would absolutely love it if they came back, I am not a fool, and I do realize that there is a 99.999999% chance they won't.

My Firefly comment was mostly a joke.

I don't care. Bring back Firefly. Do it. Do it now, Netflix.

Yeah, I agree with Christopher. It's not about resurrecting old shows from the grave, but rather giving shows a lifeline. The best case scenario is for Netflix to pick them up in order for them to have enough time to wrap things up properly. It's something like Jericho and the fan campaign at the time of cancellation, something like this would have made it possible to continue, I think.

Maybe "Fireflards" is an unfair term to try to coin; I've never liked "Avatards", and any derivation of "Twihards" just doesn't compete with that magical perfection... let's see...

Fireheads? Wheddicts? Whedoholics? Fireflunks? Serenitoners? ...

My first thought was Stargate Universe, but they'd have to act fast. Everyone involved has already moved on emotionally and actors are already finding other work. Bringing back SGU does seem like a dream at this point, but not a total impossibility.

If they pick up any cancelled shows it'll likely be shows that aren't too expensive and that have a fairly stable and loyal audience, albeit just a bit too small to survive on a network.

If i understand correctly, these shows will only be shown via Netflix?

What about the non-US fans with no Netflix access? Is there any chance Netflix will also release the shows on DVD?? Or do we not count :scream:

^^The studio that owns and produces the show would be the ones to release it on dvd, or sell the rerun package which would include any continued seasons to a cable outlet or syndication.
All Netflix would be theoretically be doing is financing continued production in exchange for streaming rights to said series.

Netflix is making international moves...depending on where you live, you may get access fairly soon...Canada is first.
