Who would you want to see have a 'romantic moment' Kirk or Spock?

Spock/Kirk/McCoy all the way.
That's what I want anyways.
What will I take if it's all heteros, like I know it will be?
Spock/Chapel. How are they getting no love? There's so much angst there in the original series they may as well be a slash couple.

Who do I want to have a romantic moment?

All of them, because I don't want to see them end up the same lonely, crotchety, disspirited old men they were in the original timeline. I want the movie to appeal to female trekkies as well as male trekkies. That would mean that I want romance, strong women who aren't pining, and men who aren't marshmellows and cling to a big tin can for comfort (that is so wierd)! If they want to insert a gay character, in deference to George Takei, why not have it be Sulu. I'm fine with Spock and Uhura, they match well. McCoy and Chapel would do very well, both being headstrong and opinionated where medicine is concerned. Should have been this way in TOS. Kirk....nothing demure. I want that person to be able to kick Klingon asssssss...and his, too!

I could get behind a Chapel/McCoy romance too.
And hells yeah to a gay character. I have mixed feelings on it being Sulu, no reason why it has to be Sulu, but it's past time that ST had gay characters, and not just a token extra.
IIRC, JJA, or some of his co-writers, said they wanted to include a gay character in the movies, but there wasn't a place to fit one in the first movie, but there were plans to have a gay character in the second movie. I have no idea if thay means an important character or two same sex extras holding hands in the background.

And for God's sake, dress the gay character right. Forget the short skirt/dress. Somehow, that's just not right.

LOL I hadn't thought about that. There is that guy in the background of the first ep of TNG in the minidress. I'd definitely not want a gay guy in a dress be our first gay Trek movie/tv character. I'd rather have a kick ass gay butch like Keru from Titan.

I know trek romance aint the core of star trek but still...........

As a big star wars fan (yes you can like both trek and wars)

I was kind of sad I never saw anakin and padme in bed

together, well maybe just once when he had the nightmare

that she was going to die in childbirth in revenge of the

sith.

If there is anything that is a poster for not having romantic moments its the painfully awkward and forced scenes between Anakin and Padme. Now maybe Lucas just sucks at romance, but I wouldnt spend too much time on that, unless its to take it away. I always liked that Kirk was married to the Ship and to that chair on the bridge, and Spock would forever be at his side. And therefore romances were tragic or forlorn. If its to rip it away in a painful way that adds drama and personal impact, then Im all for it. But not some fuzzy wuzzy sweetie pie BS.

As for getting theres, which is fine, id have liked to see Bones score with Dax, but apparently that was a little before he bacame a Doctor and an officer, although new timeline means new possibilites. You could show Kirk and Carol M because I do like that he did have a son he didnt know about. I dont really want to see Spock getting any action. There were some good moments in TOS with the Romulan Commander and withh Mrs. Charles Bronson when he was under the influence of the spores. But these were of the sort I described above. And I prefer it stay that way.

Well theres no "right" way to dress. If the (male) character wears a dress thats fine. I personally want to see Trek be alot less vanilla and expand its inventory of characters.

Lol. I remember that guy when I first watched it in 87. That seemed slightly bold, but that boldness apparently didnt last long. I dont particularly mind whether the first openly gay Trek character is femme or butch. Indeed we can have more than one. But I think the best way to have a regular character who is gay is for it to be Sulu, as an homage to good 'ol George.
