Trek novelists on Trek movies

Very cool. Which reminds me, I still need to finish Mack/Ward's TOS S3 rewatch.

I <3 tor.com. Why are they doing more for Trek than S&S, though? Are they all part of the same conglomo?

Either way, it gives me something to read at work besides the Trek Today RSS feed.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised by that too. Not that I'm complaining, I've been loving the S3 Rewatches, and the TMP article was pretty cool too.

Read the The Motion Picture by Dayton Ward and have to say it was very underwhelming. It was, essentially, just the highlights of information I'd seen before.

I was hoping for something more akin to the reviews he and David Mack did for TOS season 3.

I liked the star trek V one. Touches on a lot of the stuff I always liked about it (row row row row, question for god, I need my pain etc), and raises a very good point about what the movie was trying to be.

I would say that it's not the most derided trek film any more, Insurrection & Nemesis rightfully fulfil that role now.

Pretty Cool. I really like these commentaries hosted by TOR. Thanks for sharing!

Nope. Tor is part of Macmillan, which is part of Holtzbrinck . . .

There's no corporate connection to S&S at all. I think we're just doing it because we want tor.com to be fun and interesting. (Not that I have much to do with tor.com, aside from writing the occasional piece on Richard Matheson.)

I was also wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that Marco Palmieri is now employed by Tor...

Which Tor + Marco + great authors we love = great things, IMO.

^No, Tor.com has been employing Trek novelists to write its reviews since well before Marco came onboard at Tor. And I think they're different departments of the corporation anyway.
