Speaking of members of multiple forums, where’s our friend Forbin? John, are you there?

Hello?

Yeah. I'm on this one mostly, sometimes I visit Wordforge, and there's another one. I can't seem to remember which one it is.

Ah, well. It will come to me eventually.
Ah, more guilty feelings for me. Flukie's Cafe, too.

I'm an Admin at what could be called a spin-off Forum and the subject of TrekBBS is hardly ever raised. It's about the nicest place you could ever visit on the Internet. :rommie:

I post on another Forum somewhat related to this one as The Burger King, I also lurk on the Daily Rotten forums

I'm an admin of the forum in my sig along with Bernd Schneider of Ex Astris Scientia (who I'm sure all the people from the Trek-XI forum know), which had a few hundred members during the time Trek was still on the air and the movies were coming out, but after everything that could possibly be argued about Trek-XI was discussed, it kind of died out. It still gets traffic, with the art forum being the most popular, but even I haven't posted there in several months. I should probably post there again though to try and get some discussion going in the other forums.

I registered at a couple of other forums, but got bored with them fairly quickly. This is where I post most often.

+10 easily.

I visit around 5 boards that are main Trek or have significant Trek sections. The rest are a range of boards for other sci-fi franchises, gaming (as in video games), sports, and a few hobby forums. That said, TrekBBS is probably the one I visit and post at the most.

I have around half a dozen different usernames I use, which does mean if I get signed out I often have at least one failed attempt at logging in before I pick the right one.

i use the same alias on the two Joe forums, but different ones elsewhere, the private forum i'm on allows users to change their name at will, and i switch to differing ones based on what movie i'm most excited about. funny thing is, 90% of the time, the others still call me my original name, before the name-changing thing was brought in.

Two comments:

1. What is a 'Joe' forum?

2. Allowing users to change their usernames has to be the most confusing thing EVER. Shoot, I can barely wait for Halloween and Christmas to be over around here, so that I know what to call people without reading the fine print. When everyone changes username and avatar at the same time, it's unsettling to me. Even though I do it too (at least for Christmas - I skip the Halloween change).

How do you keep everyone straight in a forum like that, where users can change names at will?

Good point....VASH!

Point taken. :p

But hey...I only did it once. And if I wasn't the first in that line when the floodgates opened, I was pretty damn close to the front.

You know how it is. Back in 2001 when I registered, I never dreamed I would actually stay. As you (of all people) remember, the VOY forum was a pretty brutal place back then...and that was the chief motivator for my registration. I had been lurking for months, and finally just HAD to respond to some nitwit or other, so registered on the spur of the moment one day, damn the torpedoes and all.

The first couple of names I tried to get were taken, and I was not very creative on the fly...so I picked "Vash". But I was never attached to it...and jumped at the chance when we were finally allowed to change.

However, a few people (I'm looking at YOU, Odo_ital!) still call me Vash to this day. I don't care - in fact, I kind of like it, coming from the old timers around here. I'll answer to either. After all, I've been called alot worse.

You know though, I can't remember the last time I typed out your 'real' username. At one time back in the early days, I used to know by heart the order of the 1's and 0's - they slipped off my fingers as if i were spelling a regular word. But ever since you became 'Digits'...well....I can't do it any more. I'd have to peek.

Who was the first to call you that, anyway? The Worm? Sounds like something he would make up.....

You know, I don't remember where Digits started. It could have been him. It came early on, and it definitely stuck. Only people who know the song can type the full thing out directly.

And like you, when I first registered I couldn't conceive of being here this long. But I've become attached to my username, and wouldn't change it now.

I frequent this, and another forum, about music, and with mostly British people. That's about it right now. I've been at several forums before, but I never stayed very long. I started staying for this board, and I'm planning to do that for the other one too.

I use Eyes where available, and Eyes330 where not. Currently, I have the same avatar over there as well; it's even more appropriate to the subject matter.

GI Joe - the forums i previously mentioned joecanuck.com and bloodforthebaron.com

mostly by the fact that only 3 of us do it much, we're the three main members of the ~12 or so members and we tend to use the same sig or only minimally modify it.

post styles and what people will post about helps as well, as does the user ranks and other profile info under the name - there's only one person listing her pets as a horse called Don and one with cats called Boots, Rommel and Bodie, for example!

This is the only board I actively post on. I lurk on Capcom Unity and Dugpa. Several years ago, I was a member over at Superman Cinema.

I like this place, good topic, good people, and you're even okay with embedding YouTube videos. - Plus it's active.

I mainly just lurk here, but I'm also active at my "local" Subaru forums, clubsub.org.nz from time to time

Only active on one work-related board (which has couple of sub-related ones) till this one recently. Now this is only one post in regularly if have time. Though Guardian comments, digitalspy and mumsnet can be occasional diverting read...
