I wouldn't even want to be captain. Actually I probably wouldn't even want to enter Starfleet unless it's in a completely non-military-related role. I mean, I suppose I could teach history and political science aboard a starship, too!

Akira class

At least I'd feel safe and able to protect myself (let's face it, basically a flying missile/torpedo battery). Plus it's a nice design...Though I suspect it's a bit functional/nuGalactica re: decor...

Sabre - Small, agile and nippy
Miranda - The Ford truck of starships, what's not to like?
Excelsior - She may the "elder statesman" of the fleet, but its a classic
Ambassador - Big and comfy without being overly flashy like the Galaxy or Sovereign (a woefully under-used ship IMO)

Love descriptions I think Excelsior has best 'lines'...but that bridge sucks big time...

^ If you're referring to the original STIII Excelsior bridge, then yes, massive suckage. However, the STVI Excelsior bridge strongly resembled the STV,VI Enterprise bridge and that one was alright. I'd lose the wheelie chairs though. It's bad enough getting thrown from your seat in battle without being run over by it.

If I was a Starfleet captain, I'd like an Akira-class ship.

However I personally would rather be a civilian freighter captain. Give me the Y-class freighter from ENT.

For me either version of the constitution class (TOS or TMP; not the Abramsprise). I like the galaxy class a lot but they don't seem very safe. Even relatively minor fender benders like in Cause and Effect are capable of triggering warp core breachs or loss of antimatter containment.

The TSFS bridge really did suck. TUC was far better but I liked the addition of the aft console in GEN. For my latest project it was a toss up between the Excelsior and the Ambassador, I had to draw the name from a hat in order to decide. Wound up with the former, so I'm happy.

As i noted above, i don't know my ship classes well. I've been perusing. Compared to the original and refit Connie, over time it seems starship classes have gotten squatter or compacter.

The connies soar with their up-angled pylons. Why the overall drift towards compactness, I wonder (Ent-E excluded)? Does it reflect changing automobile styling from the '60s through the '90s?

Vesta, Sovereign or Akira class please. I honestly wouldn't mind an NX Class either though.
