Survivor: Redemption Island Discussion (Spoilers)

I don't think any of the Ometepe tribe have done anything wrong strategically. Most of them are probably just hoping to earn $100,000 by making it to the finale, and, even if they wanted to make a move against Rob, it wouldn't make sense to do it so early. It's better to wait until the Zapatera tribe is either gone completely or down to 2 or fewer members (especially given the Redemption Island twist, which can screw up the numbers analysis).

The buddy system that Rob came up with is genious! Now everyone in his alliance will have a harder time if they try to make a secret pact with the other tribe.

I'm so done with Phillip, enough is enough. I haven't seen even a hint of racism from Steve, and anyway Survivor clearly screens its candidates for that sort of thing; that's one line they do not cross just for drama's sake. And wasn't Phillip the one who seperated the two tribes' rice rations in the first place?

I understand Rob's decision to keep Phillip, but duuude... This season is crap.

I'm entertained with this season.

I'm a fan of the RI twist as it gives you more challenges, which I like, and I'm also a fan of Boston Rob's. The girls are nice to look at and Phillip provides non stop entertainment.

I thought it was a good move by Julia to hide his board shorts, she was probably banking on him going insane and turning off his tribemates even further. I love how after years of working for the government in a super top secret position he says he can tell what people are thinking and what they've done, and then fingers Steve as the board short thief. Way to go, Phillip. I wonder if he could be a tad off about the racism accusations as well....

I'm doubting pretty much everything that comes out of his mouth.

He claimed he had been awarded the second-highest medal that could be awarded to the Army. That's the Distinguished Service Cross. And, surprise, surprise, he's NOT on the list of people who have received this award.

What else is he "confused" about?

I'm not sure wearing the man-panties, playing the Race Card and acting like a loon is going to win him the Viewers' Choice Prize. I much more see that going to Matt who while being good-looking, a Bible-reader he has played a damn-good game by constantly winning the RI challenges.

The runner-up prize and the Viewers' Choice prize are two different things. Every runner-up in Survivor wins $100,000, though I don't know what happens to whoever comes in third when they do final threes instead of final twos.

It does seem like, at this point, Phillip is banking on someone taking him to the final because they know nobody on the jury will vote for him, so $100,000 is better than nothing.

Ah, gotcha, you're talking about the game's second-place prize. IIRC the third-place person gets $50K.

Also, I guess "crazy" = N-Word.

In most seasons, the runner-up receives $100,000, and third place wins $85,000. Sonja Christopher, the first player voted off in Survivor: Borneo, received $2,500.[14] The prize was increased for Survivor: All-Stars. The known prizes for Survivor: All-Stars were as follows: 2nd = $250,000; 3rd = $125,000; 4th = $100,000. Tina Wesson, the first player voted off in Survivor: All-Stars, received $25,000. In Survivor: Fiji, the first season with tied runners-up, the two runners-up received US$100,000 each, and Yau-Man Chan received US$60,000 for his 4th place finish.[15] The prizes for other seasons with more than sixteen contestants are unknown.

All players also receive an additional $10,000 for their appearance on the reunion show.[16]

Beginning in Survivor: China, viewers of Survivor voted their favorite player to win $100,000. Below are the winners of their respective seasons.

In Survivor: America's Tribal Council as part of the All-Stars season, Rupert Boneham was selected by a popularity poll of Survivor viewers to win $1,000,000.

Philip is completely full of shit, first of all they haven't been acting as one tribe since the merge, so to act like the rice is for everyone is utter bull shit. Second of all Phillip stole thier rice, so karma came back and bit him in the ass. Thirldy, Steve called him crazy, not for suggesting putting the rice in the other container, but because he was running his mouth to no end. Nothing in that conversation was racist and I bet Phillip knows it, but just wants to run his mouth about anything and everything. Matt is still hanging in there, good for him. The jury is going to be a lot of Zapatera, so who ever is in the top three will have a lot of convincing to do, especially if it is Rob. Rob got immunity, as if he needed it. This is an interesting season, I hope they get sick of Phillip soon. Love the redemption island, I wonder if they will use it in future seasons?

...which is why first priority is to get rid of any Zapatera tribe members. Redemption Island, of course, makes that a little more complicated (especially as we don't know when the next "winner" of Redemption Island will be coming back).

Philip's racist rant reminded me of a similar one Omarossa made in the first season of "The Apprentice" when someone used the phrase "pot calling the kettle black" against her.

Everybody's sick of Phillip, but it's in Ometepe's best interests to keep him around for as long as possible. You want to take a polarizing figure like him with you to maximize your chances of swaying the jury toward you.

I think he said "during peacetime", don't know if that makes a difference. And when was even last time the US military was really in "peacetime" anyway?

Yeah, he might have been referring to the Meritorious Service Medal:
