TV Ratings (Thursday 14th April) + FRINGE Friday

How did Fringe get renewed?
It does boggle the mind with the ratings it gets and the weak season it is having.

Hey now, the first half of the season was great, the second half has been terrible.
the first half was uneven--in my opinion the alternate episodes weren't that good saddled with some weak standalone plots and I have found the alt fringe team boring. The even episodes were definitely solid--"The Box", "What do Shapeshifter dream of?", "6955 Hz" and the culmination of the return but then the marionette episode was lame, firefly was decent but not as good as it should have been for an Observer show. Then after "Reciprocity" the show has spun its wheel with a large swath of episodes offering nothing significant to the mythology, giving us disposable plots, focusing too much on romance and going on far too many tangents that add up to nothing other than a stalling tactic.
The writers seem to be only able to write 13 episodes a year.
And the thing is they keep saying they have 6 or 7 seasons of story to tell yet they know they will never get renewed to last tha long so why not cut out the crap and tighten up the storytelling by getting down to business in covering all those years worth of supposed story. The mythololgy is all the show has got going for it really and it is foolish not to shift to that rather than giving us all this lame filler.

I think the writers are lying. After the first season finale they came out and said they were planning on introducing the AU in the 3rd season finale. What the hell were they playing for 2 more seasons?!

So I think they just say whatever to get their way. It's like when BSG came out and said they had a 5 year plan when in reality they planned for about 20 episodes and then just made it up as they went along.

Most shows are made up on the fly with core elements planned maybe BUT the American networks want long long seasons so you need to just make up stuf as you go. Fringe probably should NOT go past 5 seasons with that 5th season being 13-15 episodes...

However it will most likely end next season but I cannot wait to find out how the story ends with hopefully answers to questions like who are the first people, The Observors and which reality will be wiped out.

;)
