I wish we could assume that, but from the sound of things CBS may only be considering the most traditional entries for fear that the fans would reject anything too revolutionary.
"The wrong number of nacelles" and "a different kind of configuration" were both cited as criteria for disqualification, though this could mean "an odd number of nacelles" and "a radically different kind of configuration."
We simply don't know yet. I'm afraid no assumptions can be made at this point.

As with my Cresent shaped Saucer Section that most likely got my design knocked out. So much for the top votes getting any weight. 1st and 3rd and we both don't get a nod.

As I said, we can draw no conclusions yet. Remember that we were first told been told finalists were being contacted 12 days ago.
I don't know if you've ever worked customer service, but sometimes people bullshit a little in order to placate customers. Cryptic can't say "CBS is dragging their heels" so they say "Winners are being notified" which is kind of true as they will be... eventually.
You'll note that the part of the live interview that indicated that "CBS isn't happy with any of the entries" was removed prior to the release of that STOked episode.
My gut tells me that Cryptic had a winner in mind, and that CBS has rejected it. I believe we will either have to wait until CBS can be convinced, or steamrolls Cryptic into accepting an entry they aren't happy with, or an alternate winner is accepted by both parties.
The rules aren't specific, but I'm under the impression that a single individual at CBS has the final word on the winner. Pure speculation here, but It seems like maybe that person had a winner in mind, and it wasn't among the top 25 the Cryptic submitted. I think this because as I understand things, selecting the top 25 is the only say in the process that Cryptic gets. From there CBS narrows it down to four, and that single, unnamed individual selects the winner form those four.
In short, I'm not convinced emails have been sent out at all. I think Cryptic and CBS are still deadlocked, but they have to tell us something, and as these emails are unverifiable due to a presumed NDA, they are therefore a perfect stall tactic if you don't mind your winners giving up hope prior to being notified.
That being said, our emotional wellbeing is likely the least of their concerns. They know as well as you and I do that no matter what pit of despair the winner may have fallen into prior to being notified, the following elation and gratitude will more than outweigh any lingering irritation at having been made to wait, and the rest of us can get our plummet to the bottom and crawl back to emotional ground level over with in advance, and therefore we'll be less inclined to rage when the winner is announced.
...or maybe I'm talking out of my ass. These are just my own assumptions, drawn on very little fact, a great deal of hearsay, and my own pre-conceived notions and psychological defense mechanisms

I myself have tried to contact the few I mean few that I have contact over there at CBS and of course no answer on that end either.
I hope we do end up getting atleast a sorry but no email to let us know if we made it or not.
This. I'm heavily leaning towards this being a stall tactic, judging by the fact that if *I* was 17 days behind announcing contest winners, it's exactly what *I* would say. "Don't worry, things are moving..."
In the meantime, Sean, I'm with you - at this point even a "you didn't win, thanks for playing" email would be welcome

Just to give you a baseline for comparison, I entered the Eve Online "Design a Starship" Contest in October of last year, and only last week found out that my entry had been selected as a runner up. This is 7 months after the contest began, and two and a half months after the "Final Vote" ended.
Supposedly I won $600 and got some cool shwag
This is great to hear, yet they got my last initial wrong, and still haven't contacted me. In fact the contest website still says "Stay Tuned" (and probably always will) you have to go to the forums to find out who the winners were, and even then they selected three Amarr ships (including mine) after promising to select a runner up from each of the game's four races, so my win is still by no means guaranteed.
Soooo... yeah. These crowdsourcing things are always at least a little bit broken, and never taken as seriously by the sponsor as by the contestants. Don't even get me started on the StarCraft 2 contest, which was completely unmoderated. Note that the 3rd place winner is plagiarized concept art from Blizzard's own website.
How long did it take you to find out you had won the Titan contest Sean? I remember you saying you'd kind of forgotten about it by the time they informed you.

I think from entry deadline to the Phone call a week before the announcement I believe it was 6 months. I got a call fro Marco a few days before they announce the winners.
Then I had a few follow up calls where Marco asked me to adjust a few thing to match how things where discribed in the books, also I realised that I left of the Captain's Skiff and they aloud me to ad that.
Also when it came to designing the cover Doug Drexler was to busy work on Galactica to do the Mesh so I was aloud to pick who I wanted to do it. So i picked Ellery Connell since I knew is work and happen to sit a few cubes over from him at our day job. So I had alot of imput in how I wanted the Final images of the Titan to look.
And later when CBS wanded to do a 6 ft model of her I had a lot of communications with Gene Rizzardi as he and his team built her. I had ellery send his working mesh for them. I helped with the color matching and even provided seperate Illustrator files for them to use for decals and other Hull markings.
By far that contest ran much smother than this has. Better communications.
Still 6 months though. This contest was first announced in... November? I think if we assume the winners will be announced in June, we might not be disappointed

Wait, you said whoever it is at CBS didn't like ANY of the entries? Or just any of the top 25 picked by cryptic?
And to follow up on Titan Designer's comment on not being notified for 6 months. Was there a published announcement date for the winner of that contest? did they miss it?

Actually they hit it or it was off by a week.
They don't like any of them at all I believe, but remember, that was said "privately" during a live interview
and it may be an exaggeration. IIRC it was stated on the record that CBS disagreed with Cryptic's top 25, so perhaps there was an entry they had in mind and they didn't see it.
