How do you know when it's time to level up? I clicked on it because it was flashing, but whenever I tried to assign new skills (?) the accept button didn't work. Not sure what I'm doing on this yet.

I'm still on the first part of the game, where you have to fight the Borg probes in your ship.

You click on the flashing "skill up" or you hit "K" to bring up your character sheet, click on yourself, and click on "skills".

Then, you use the green arrows to raise skills you want to increase, or to lower one you've started to raise but not clicked Accept on yet, until you've spent all the points you can (which may not be all of them, depending on what skills you have available). When you're happy with your point allocation, you click on Accept.
He is still in the tutorial. Can you skill up in there?

Yes, you can spend your acquired player skillpoints, (or Boff skill points) anywhere, at any time. there are no 'Trainers' is STO; and the ONLY tiime you need to return to Admiral Quinn in person is every 10 levels (when you go up to the next major Rank - say Commander to Captain); and then, that's just so you can get your 'free ship' tokn for the next ship tier. The Promotion mission can't be completed via hailing, you have tp go to the Admiral in person.

The only other time you need to see a 'Trainer' type NPC is if you want to respec your player skills. (you also get a free respec token evey 10 levels, and they stack.) You can also obtain one by spending merits in game, or you can also buy them from the C-Store (but I've never found the need to go the C-Store route fopr that myself, ever.)

Yes.

Not only can you skill up, but if you have C-Store or store bonus boffs, you can claim them and seat them. I did the tutorial today with my "starter" Tactical boff, my Holographic Science boff, and my Liberated Borg Engineer, all equipped with Tribbles, and partly with my Del Taco shuttle following me. :)

Could have given them all TOS Phaser 2 if I wanted, but it's my Foundry toon, and I'm going "TNG Movies" with him.

Yeah, pretty much the only people I know that would be interested are all here, and mostly playing, so gonna be tough getting that referral...

We should try and at least make a point HERE that if you're going to buy a sub, or re-up or whatnot, you should definitely hook someone here up and use a referral code, so we get more help for the Fleet...

Well, I've pretty much decided that I suck at this game. First mission I do, the one where you save the Azura Blue, I can't beat the Orion marauders. Got my ass kicked soundly three times. How do you beat them? It was me and two other guys against around 30 ships!!!

So I tried the Patrol Vulcan System. Went into the Kei sector first. Same thing. Got my ass kicked. :(

There has to be something I'm missing.

if it's the syphon frigates you have to kill the syphon drone thingies first then focus on the ships . . . if you ignore the syphons you'll never win

Fire at Will is your friend. Also handy against mines.

I am Freman, just like on here. Don't know if I can log in right away, though.

Oh and it may not of been 30 ships. But it seemed like a lot.

That's alright, when can you log in?
I have the whole evening.
And I need your whole name@handle to find you in game.
@handle is your player account, and the name is your toon/character you play at that moment.

Freman72 is the account, Freman is the character (Or is it Mr_Freman? It's one of those two lol).

I'll log on now and you can add me as a friend, but I have to go to work right away.

I knew my problem with this game was going to be the space battles. Does anyone know any Foundry land missions I can try out?

Are you on normal? Because just putting your weapons on autofire and sitting there should be enough to beat those raiders. They are really weak enemies.

EDIT also don't use full impulse anywhere near enemies

yep, pretty much just broadside the things, and when you get the shields down in a section, toss a torpedo in there...

Neither worked. perhaps you better send me a mail in game: just sent it to @Timelord_Victorious.
No toon name needed for a mail.
