What is your pet peeve?

I find self indulgent ignorance really annoying. You know the people that come into a thread/conversation, immediately make an erroneous statement of fact, then go on to expound their "incites" on said topic while claiming everyone else is wrong, refusing to give sources while claiming any counter sources are unreliable.
People who use the wrong homophone, like “incite” instead of “insight.”

People who put apostrophes where they aren't needed.

"Which of these photo's do you like the best?"
The Punctuation Nazi’s strike again!

I think I could included in Sojourner's pet peeve. Though I have gotten better, I give links now.

Oops! my bad!

I don't correct people, the reason being is that I can read what they post and still get the gist of what they are saying. I also can't harp on people about spelling and grammar when I ask them to take it easy on me.
Man the golden rule applies to a lot of things.

Oh, I firmly believe in the Golden Rule. But you see, I don’t mind it when people correct me. In fact, I relish being corrected when I’m wrong, which isn’t that often. :)

What about left turns on red?
You’re NEVER permitted to make a left turn against a red light unless it’s a “protected” left turn, i.e. indicated by a lit green left arrow. Some green-arrow intersections allow you to turn left on the normal green light as well; others permit left turns ONLY when the green arrow is lit.

And as long as we’re on the subject of traffic signals, one peeve of mine is signals that keep working automatically during late-night and early-morning hours when there’s virtually no traffic. Many drivers succumb to the temptation to make a turn or roll through an intersection against the light, rather than wait for the light to change when there’s NO FRIGGIN’ TRAFFIC! Why aren’t all traffic lights set to flash red (indicating stop and proceed with caution) or yellow (slow down and proceed with caution) during those hours?

You're allowed to turn left on red if the street you're turning onto is one way and you've come to a complete stop first. But some states prohibit it.

Indeed. It's perfectly acceptable in Illinois.

^^ I didn’t think about one-way streets. Maybe because there aren’t that many of them on my side of town.

Just thought of some more pet peeves:

- Sports rioters (i.e. Vancouver), or indeed, any rioters

- Snotty theater actors who act like doing TV or movies is somehow beneath them

- Joe West

- Food snobs who act like you're lower than dogshit if you eat at places that other people have actually heard of

- Related peeve: Wine snobs
