What is your pet peeve?

I take over a double seat on the train until it starts to fill up, then I move the stuff I have on the seat near me. Sometimes I wait until someone not too icky looking gets in and I pointedly move the stuff so they can sit down. Ideally it's someone's kid so they take up less space altogether.

In what way am I a hypocrite? I don't say one thing and do another. I do one thing in one situation and another thing in another. Perhaps because these things I do seem to be opposites you think I am being hypocritical. If you look closer though you will see that both actions stem from the same cause - a frustrated commuter that wishes all those around him would cease to exist so he can get to work in relative comfort - and since he can't get that he expresses his frustration by annoying those around him however possible.

And knows it

Well, you say that you actively seek out people who are taking up multiple seats just to piss them off. I assumed you are doing that because you recognize a single person taking up multiple seats is not something to be encouraged. Yet you choose to be a person that takes up multiple seats.

Also, you recognize that every commuter is frustrated, yourself included. Yet you are willing to add to other people's frustration just so you feel better. I said hypocrite because you are acting in a way which you inherently disapprove. If you aren't doing that, then I retract my previous statement.

Ahaha, ok, my motivation. It's nothing more than 'lets see how I can annoy people today'. I'm not judgemental enough (and I'm usually on the train too early in the morning) to approve or disapprove of things.

I do wonder though whether this might be the seed from which psychopathy may sprout.

What happened to all that Dalai Lama no-ego stuff you posted the other day Nick? Was it just some threadfiller BS?

(I assumed it was bait but I figured hey, might be wrong.)

I have a looooong way to go before I could meditate myself into a state of calm strong enough to use public transport in a polite and congenial manner.

I just found a new pet peeve.

That Axe body spray commercial up in the corner is really starting to tick me off.

Jaywalkers who aren't fast enough to cross the street before someone has to stop for them.

Stupid people who call up talk radio shows (especially sports talk radio) and have no clue what they're talking about.

Inefficiency, or put another way, Inelegance of thought or design.

You could have saved time and effort by only putting it one way.

The funny thing is, my original post was just "Inefficiency".

I edited it immediately after posting and added the inelegance part because I realised that most people would not map the concept of efficiency to thought processes; they tend to view it as applying to external processes only. You may therefore consider the repetition a deliberate oratorical device rather than inefficiency!

OK, then i'll consider not doing that in the first place the inefficient bit. :p

Grocery customers that hide the express hand baskets under the end of the checkout belt instead of placing the basket on the conveyer so that the store staff can easily stack the baskets near the entrance for other customers to use.
From what I can tell, that's generally where they're put. Then someone comes and collects them. I almost never see anyone put the basket on the conveyer belt so that the cashier can take it. In fact, I've seen the cashier tell the customer to put it underneath, upfront.
So glad I learned how to ride a bike, in a couple of weeks trains and buses will be a distant memory
That reminds me... Cyclists. :p

They're almost always in the driving lane or close enough that I'm afraid of hitting them. This is more of a problem when there's a lot of traffic and I can't avoid them by a significant margin because of all the other cars. I remember one time, I had to keep behind a woman on her bike because she had a huge basket on the back and I didn't want to hit it.
