NHL 2010/2011 season....

Presidents day in Vancouver
I just hope they can take it all the way.
But like some I'm going to take it one game at a time no sense counting the chickens before they hatch.

I'm generally indifferent about the Canucks beyond their status as a Canadian team but congrats to them on the President's Trophy. It's slightly sweeter that they did it by defeating the Kings. That oughta piss off my heretic girlfriend.

Sharks made the playoffs with a dominating beatdown of the Stars tonight. Eagers last goal was amazing, even though the one from Torry Mitchell against Vancouver was better given the stakes. Still, what a night and they also have sole control of the second seed. Sharks haven't played much this week and it's been a great week.

Aw, you'll live. Poor Leafs are fighting fucking math at this point. You can hang in suspense about the division ;)

I just wish the Leafs would figure out that the season starts in October, not after the All-Star break. This is what, three years in a row they've been one of the hottest teams after the damn break?

It's interesting that it's even possible to not make the play-offs 6 years in a row in the NHL when more than half of the teams qualify; the mathematical odds have to be enormously against it, especially when you factor in the draft and all. It almost seems like you have to try to not make the play-offs as a team owner to fail so often in a row, by constantly selling your best players to make more money or whatever.
Although there are quite a few teams that have been even worse, the Maple Leafs will soon enter elite company of awfulness if they continue to suck.

The worst part is that we can't even blame Harold Ballard anymore.

And I believe this will be season six for the Leafs. Barring a miracle.

Congrats to the Nucks on the President's Trophy - just one more to add this season.

1st in wins, 1 in goals for, 1st in goals against, 1st in PP, 1st in PK - according to the Vancouver Sun no team since the Original Six era (which ended in 1967) has led in goals for and against, power play and penalty kill in the same season.

If we fuck this up, I will be left scratching my head for the entire summer. And sobbing gently.

Maybe that Grumpy Miserable Bigoted Old Bastard left a curse on them?
You know he's spinning in his grave when there are so many foreigners on the team.

The Bruins will be tough in the East, I just hope the Leafs don't make it in, It will be murder at work. between their Fans and the Habs fans.

Leafs are planning their tee off times as are the Flames.

Dallas needs to win their last 3 games And Chicago need to loose their last two for them to make the post season.
In the East NY Rangers 91 pts with 2 GR and Carolina 89 pts with 2 GR its going to be tight.

Of the Western teams Only Vancouver made it in from their Division.

Sad Flames fan here, tonight. I'm drunk enough that I could cry. :(

Was at the CGY/EDM game tonight.... Iginla is just so awesome!

I've only recently started really following hockey (blame my dad, he's a huge Bruins fan), but even before I did, I always liked Iginla. I hope he doesn't end up being one of those players who spends his entire career in one place, then gets traded at the tail end of it to a contender so he can (hopefully) finally win the Stanley Cup. I'd rather see him win it with the Flames.

I feel bad for Iginla - one of the best players in the world over the past decade, but the Flames have let him down huge by not providing him with an adequate supprting cast.

That's the same in Toronto. First with Sundin and now with Kessel. I'm glad to see it changing here.

As of right now, Vancouver is facing Chicago in the first round. It'll be hard for them to break the President's trophy "choke" curse when they have their own demons when it comes to the Hawks.

I know this is probably a dead horse, but why is the NHL using wins without shootout wins as a tiebreaker? Why push the shootout on us if you aren't going to take it seriously enough when push comes to shove?
