Nice place. I'm glad they still have it. My parents sold the family house a couple of years ago to move into a retirement community.
Those are pretty cool effects. What program do you use?
Probably for the best.
Maybe I'll do the giant lily pad myself. 
Anyway, the painting came out beautifully.
I used VirtualDub to zoom in on the grainy cellphone footage source video to capture certain parts of the frame like the guitar and faces and such. Then I extracted JPG files which I recolored in Photoshop and put them back together using Windows Movie Maker.
It was fun to do!

Anyhoo, I'm on a creative roll. I finished the portrait of my sister, and this one does step into the surreal (she doesn't really have marigolds for eyes, after all). Holy shit, as I'm typing this I just heard ten gunshots! One, a few beats, and then 9 more in quick succession!
Back to the painting:
My roommate said it scared her. This one, and the hands I did last fall. I told her they don't look morbid in my head, it's only after they're on canvass that they seem a little creepy!
I also thought it'd be fun to take pictures as I was painting, that way I can look back and see how my picture evolved and hopefully learn from it. I don't know, they may be more interesting to me than they would be to anyone else, but here's the succession:

That is nicely surreal; reminds me a bit of Dali, and other stuff that was popular in the 60s. I also like the "works in progress." You should put them in WinMorph and make an animation.

Thanks. I have auto-contrast on my scanner, so things are usually lighter than I like them when I scan images.
That's exactly what I thought. It looks like it was darker when you drew it.

Thank you! The downside to scanning it in is that the scanner picks up everything that a human eye wouldn't pick apart. I think from now on I'll just take pictures of my drawings and paintings.
That looks great, J! I love how expressive the eyes are. I feel like painting, but I'm all out of canvasses and will have to wait until at least Thursday or Friday before I'll have time to get more. I think I want to do some more people with flowers for eyes.

Sounds like you've seen Creepshow. I usually clean up my scans in Photoshop afterward. Of course, I'm usually going for a stark B&W result so that I can add coloring.

Well, in one of the stories, which is an adaptation of King's short story "Weeds," a meteor falls and plant life begins to bloom out of everything-- including people. I think there was a shot of the weeds growing out of Jordy's eyes; or maybe that was in the comic. It's been a while.
^Well, then, I will do it my way and make it my own! (Though I feel a bit like Chris from Northern Exposure, when he wanted to fling a cow.)
