This isn't an April fool. Tennant and Moffett have been dating since she guest-starred, and their engagement was announced around Christmastime, followed soon after by reports (confirmed by various "baby bump" paparazzi photos) that she was expecting, though the big surprise was that she was due so soon.

If this were an April fool, the birth would have been reported as happening today, rather than on March 31. Also, April fool gags tend to only be reported in one publication; the birth has been reported by about a dozen media outlets so far according to the Doctor Who News Page, one of which was BBC America.

Congratulations to the happy couple (and proud grandpa)!
