Possible New Series!!! Very Interesting Damon Lindelof Interview

Was just browsing the web looking for any news on Star Trek XII, when I came across a brief video interview where Damon Lindelof mentions that he is working on a possible Trek television series! No further details, but its very promising, in your Lindelof sort of sense. I've transcribed below and heres the original video interview

AFD TV Interviewer: "So with the release of Star Trek XII due out in theaters Summer 2012, do you think Star Trek will remain a movie franchise, or will there be anymore television productions?

Lindelof: "Thats a really good question, I can say that I've been working on an idea, nothing too serious yet, but I have been looking into getting another Star Trek television series together. Myself and Roberto Orci were brainstorming about it at the weekend, its still early days though, but its being seriously considered"
This sounds absolutely awesome in so many ways. If they are serious about doing it. The only gripe I would have is a series directly following the JJ-Verse. But anyway, check the date.

If it's as dumb as Star Trek 2009 and the Transformers movies I'll pass.

Isn't Lindelof one of the better writers, though? He was co-creator and co-showrunner "Lost" (of which he has written more episodes than any other writer) which, despite what some may feel about the ending, was one of the best-written shows of the 2000s.
Plus, even Orci & Kurtzman can do good stuff on TV, as evidenced through "Fringe". So, if Lindelof & Orci were doing a show, chances are that it'd be good.

Btw, it seems that the video is not available in my country. I can therefore not check the date.

The main issue he is getting CBS to bite..thats a big if. Like anything else in the entertainment buisness world, big names with good connections will probably be the ones to prevail.

Slap JJ Abrams's name on it and it will at least get 13 episodes.

Maybe with Fox, NBC, and ABC.. CBS is a tougher cookie to crack as they seem to be locked in to non scifi related shows. There system works for them and keeps them a top network..still there are other options

I don't know what's so awesome about it. All Damon said is that he's playing around with an idea for a series right now. Nothing really to get excited about. Are people really that desperate for a series that they're posting every little tid bit? This is a non story to me. It will become a story once it's actually green lit and development to me.

Right there have been a few Star Trek series pitchs already, some known and some not known. Although it all depends on who is pitching it and abrams team has the best shot at it since they have a succesful movie to back them up. Nothing will happen until after Trek XII comes out anyways if not later.

While I'd love for another Trek series, I don't think it would be smart until the JJ-verse has established itself well and that it can hold up. So another 6-10 years would be fine. Just enough time so that franchise fatigue won't become an issue until around what could be the fifth season.

And it should be on ABC, CBS will allow that since ABC is an affiliate. If the Trek series touches Fox or NBC, I'm not even going to bother giving it a shot.

This isn't an April Fools' day joke? I'm going with everything is a joke today.

However how about instead of worrying about a TV series that will fail, maybe they should get their ass moving on actually making a fucking MOVIE sequel?

Plus CBS owns Showtime, so they could stick it on there.

If there is any truth to this report, CBS might be a possibility, mainly due to O&K relationship with them over the very successful Hawaii 5-O relaunch for them. If the next film (or two) are as successful as the first, then CBS might be intere$ted.

Let's see, youtube video of an interview not available in the US. I'm calling a hoax. Nice try.

Its gone Midday in the UK, So I will admit that yes I'm afraid you have been had, along with a few others. It was one of the April Fools Day pranks i've pulled today.

Thing is I'm surprised so few got it, first of all the name of the Interviewer was 'AFD'. Secondly the video link (although Britain only at first) was a redirect to a 'Rick Roll'. Sorry folks, but some of the responses were priceless. And I did state at the end to 'Check the Date' ;)
