The theme of this week's avatar contest is Communication. The avatar is to depict either the content of any communication of historical significance or any significant method of communication. Media images are therefore allowed.

Standard avatar limits apply, which as stated in the "Edit Avatar" panel are "140 by 140 pixels or 140.0 KB (whichever is smaller)".

The contest shall run for 100 hours, a little over 4 days, from the time this thread is created.

My entry is of a prehistoric cave painting, one of the spotted horses, at Pech Merle in France. The art is believed to be approximately 24,000 years old. Above the horse is a negative hand print, believed to be that of one of the artists, a female, who painted it.

You can alter/change/replace entries if you want, as long as it's before the contest starts. I am just remarkably lazy and don't feel like changing mine. But anyone can change their mind.
