Ungrateful Actors

Seriously?

Is that really necessary?

No, it's not.

Apparently we must all become drones and have to like Kirk or Picard.

:borg: Resistance is Futile!

And calm down! I'm only kidding! If this thread had been in the Ent Forum i'd have said that it was the T.H.U.G.S who were running the longest April Fools joke in history! A joke is best used when suited to it's audience!

Plus I like Janeway. Then again, I like Kirk and Picard too. I like Sisko and Archer...but which is best? There's only one way to find out...

(every Brit on the BBS - This is your cue!)
You and your Maquis tactics.

Yup! Though if I was in the Stargate Forum I would refer to them as Tok'ra or Genii tactics ;)

Trip, seriously? I suppose he was decent as a character and as the actor portrayed him. But Archer was the best character overall in that show. He sucked at his job, yet the bosses let him stay in command! However he did that, he was incredible!

Connor Trinneer Worship Thread? THUGS? Psssh. Small potatoes. We have 100 pages on those suckers.

Also: Little Britain reference?

I think there have been quite a few THUG threads though.

But our thread is still VERY impressive. 153 pages since 3 and a bit months. They have 63 pages in a year.

Porthos was the best character in ENT. He deserved every bit of cheese he got.

He reminded me of Neelix too much. It seems that humans are the most depress-able races in this quadrant...

Phlox was a bigger character than Neelix. Clever, witty, educated, interesting family, a scientific mind but always enthused for more worldly appetites. There was no clamoring for approval element in him, he was his own man.

I don't know if John Billingsley ever watched Doctor Who, but Phlox's "Hmmm?" reminds me a great deal of William Hartnell.

Outside of the superficial "goofy alien" look, I don't see too much of Neelix in him.

They both seemed overly cheerful, of which I am sometimes accused. No matter what the situation, unless it's a mortal enemy (of which each of these characters had a few), they want to just smile and slide through it. And it usually works, for them individually anyway, but not as a whole for the crew.

Oh give us a break.

Acting is a job. They did their job, they got paid. They went home, they didn't like the final product. They said as much. They're people, they have opinions.

Some people didn't like Voyager, including those who performed in it. Get over it.

Well the problem is that most Trekkies still think that an acting gig on Trek is tatntamount to a sacred calling like the priesthood. It's not. They show up, pointed their toy ray guns, spouted their nonsense, and went home when the director yelled "cut". How hard is that to understand?

Trek is not the holy grail of television, if it was, there'd be one on every year. It's a show we all love, but it's not exactly tearing up Nielsen ratings.

We've seen how easy for someone to leave a show. Hell, Mandy Patinkin got up and left Criminal Minds because he didn't like the material, so why couldn't Beltran and Wang? It seems a little hypocritical to bash a show when you could've walked, but you stayed for the paycheck.

Our only excuse is the clocks went forward at the weekend so our British o'clock is out of whack. And the answer is, of course

FIIIIIIGHT!

You can't up and leave when you're under contract.

Actors are like any other person, they aren't 'grateful for the gig' jsut because they have one. And actors, like singers, often perform what they can to make a buck.

DJs are the same. Lots of DJs at pop stations hate the music, but it's a DJ gig.

Too add to this, which is correct.
This is only one of MANY factors to consider in both scenarios when it comes to comparing the how's & why's are different in Manny Patinkin being let out of his contract vs. Beltran & Kim. One of simplier ones being, Wang wasn't asking to be let go.
