The next Children in Need mini-episode revealed?

The BBC has launched a contest that asks UK schoolchildren to write a three-minute mini-episode featuring the Doctor. The winning script, which is to include one of the iconic monsters, the Doctor (duh) and a new human character of the kids' invention, will be filmed with Matt Smith, with the winning writer involved in watching the behind-the-scenes of how the mini-episode is made.

I think it's safe to predict that this is going to be the Children in Need mini-episode for 2011. It just fits the bill on so many levels.

Also, reading between the lines, the fact the winning script will be filmed sometime after June 13 (the entry deadline), strongly suggests that Smith will indeed be back for Series 7 (unless, of course, production of Series 6 drags on into the summer thanks to the split season).

Hmm ... Does the UK have any online schools? Completely unrelated to the contest involving people in school in the UK, of course.

You know I get that primarily the show is for children...but just occasionally it'd be nice if they threw us adults a bone

This is more to do with the BBC's Educational Remit; they just picked DW because it's popular with da kidz.

I'm sorry, but didn't I read somewhere that...

...series six is goin' to be split in two, makin' it series six & seven? or something?

Split yes, but, all the same series

Utterly agree with you.

Yeah, I appreciate they don't wanna open up the script process to just anyone, and really you should earn your chance on a show like Who, but still it'd be kinda fun to run this kind of competion and open it up to all (heck you could have two or three different age categories to ensure the kids still definitely get a chance--though I'm guessing there are plenty of 8 year olds who might do a better job than many adults would  )

I wonder if any children will be saying "That's all very well and good, but Moffat's used up my idea of the plot being driven by Rory looking up Amy's vagina".

How many more threads will you grace with your insight into one clip?

Yeah, initially statements seemed to indicate it was going to be sixth and seventh series, but now they're just calling the whole thing 'series 6.'

Well, you see, I'm pointing out how big a gap it is to go from the smutfest that was the Comic Relief one to having one written by a child. u get me blud?

^ Indeed we do. You've made your view point crystal clear. You think that little children who saw that understood what they were saying? Or that they're parents didn't explain it to them if they asked?

I seem to remember people saying the same about the far more open to interpretation Blow Job reference in 'Love & Monsters' without much success.

If looking up a woman's skirt constitutes a smutfest I suspect most schoolchildren are already beyond redemption in this respect.
