I can't stand Trip

With Trip, doesn't anyone else get a southern stereotype vibe? You know...conservative, close-minded. It's like with McCoy. He was from the south and he was, of course, the most xenophobic of the TOS bunch when it came to his attitude about Spock and Vulcans. No, he wasn't really a racist or anything, but still...

So what do they do with Trip? Same thing. At first, he's even more anti-Vulcan than McCoy and he takes the longest to warm up to T'Pol out of all the crew. Something tells me that wasn't accidental. Or maybe it was, but it still doesn't look good on the TV show.

Trip was a great character, but I swear the actor who played him couldnt keep his accent the same, it seemed to change from scene to scene depending on how he felt on the day...something me and my notice from time to time...

Archer was more anti Vulcan than Trip and he was from New York and San Francisco, two areas know for a liberal attitude.

I dont think you were supposed to admire Trip and Archers attitudes. (Or T'pols for that matter) Both characters are set up so they have a place to go rather than remain static. And that does look good on a TV show. Of course once Trip warmed up to T'Pol, things got pretty hot. ;)

I have ti wonder what type of TV you've been watching. Most show these days feature characters with flaws or are on a journey. Some are even the main character.

Just started re-watching season 1 of ENT, and Trip is annoying... I know he gets better as a character... So now I can safely say that he was the victim of some fairly poor writing! They just made him too redneck!

Honestly, I dislike the whole Enterprise series.

Have you watched it;)

Honestly, I love the whole Enterprise series; and I never would say I dislike any of the Star Trek series, although I prefer some to others .. after all, I am a Trekker:techman:

If you've ever been cloned for a body part ... you might be a redneck.

If you've ever gotten yourself pregnant by an alien babe ... you might be a redneck.

If you've ever earn a degree in advanced warp propulsion engineering ... you might be a redneck.

If you've ever found yourself nakked with a Vulcan titty machine ... you might be a redneck.

If you even stumbled over a stick and had that act be your lifelong nickname ... you might be a redneck.

:)

^^ You disturb the eternal slumber of a 6-years-dead thread for that? Indeed, your Trip hatred is strong.

Now let us return this ancient hate to its grave. If you feel more burning need to rail against Trip, feel free to start a new thread.
