Good episode though am back to my old feeling that this show is going to end with House's death.
I've had the demented thought over the years that House actually died in season three's "Merry Little Christmas" (Wilson found him unconscious from a drug and alcohol overdose), and that everything that has followed has been part of House's trip toward the white light.

I have to admit to giggling when I realized that the music during the William Tell scene was "In the Hall of the Mountain King."

During that scene, I also found myself wondering why anyone is willing to be friends with this man.

Anybody else think of Plenty O'Toole in the high dive?
"I didn't know there was a pool down dere."

In-Show Explanation: He's got charisma. People with charisma can get away with anything.

Real Explanation: The show is playing out a wish fulfillment fantasy for its viewers with a main character who's a cynic and acts like a jerk, yet is still admired and respected for his brilliance and despite his excentricity.

Well, just about the only person who's actually House's friend is Wilson, and he's just the sort to take in a damaged stray and put up with the difficulties in the belief that it's helping. I have a harder time explaining Cuddy's feelings for him, though.

I didn't buy the presumed suicide angle as presented in the previews. House is not suicidal. He's self-destructive as all hell, but he's not the type to take an active hand in ending it all. too big an ego.

That was in the preview? If I had seen that, I would have known it was a fake out. Glad I didn't.

She explained it in the episode. Her prefrontal cortex caused her to be attracted to the evolutionary cues of masculinity and health.

...which is actually a bit of a funny comment given that the guy was dying at the time.

Yes well there are no evolutionary cues to a torn aorta or whatever the problem was.

Also, once she screws him (providing she's impregnated), his evolutionary role is technically over. He can up and die afterwards. She only needs him once. :)

Meh. The episode was boring. I had to watch it twice cause I fell asleep the first time. Like House was going to kill himself and end the money machine that is House M.D.? Come on. Self-destructive loser House is not very interesting.

House even said lucky for him he will already be on the operating table with his chest open and a team ready to prepare...I presume in the 99.9% of cases thats not what happens thus leading to death ;)

I have a fucked up aorta in the ascending part (which is worse than a fucked up descending part). At some point it will most likely need to be replaced / fixed, they will do this BEFORE it rips and I'd still have a 60%+ chance of dying. So really they should have had Harry Potter in that scene and I would have found it more realistic.

It would have been perfect for them to actually end the show with him plummeting to his death.

Yes! there are two of us!

I hope the show ends with House dying and the only person at his funeral is Wilson. No one else bothered to show up.

^

House's funeral may be like the one in Charade, with everyone from the hospital comin' by, one at a time, to poke, prod or somehow mutilate the corpse to make sure House is really dead.

Nah. It would probably involve an autopsy and House's doclings solving the medical mystery before his burial. They would have to consider all his personality quirks for clues to his death. The doclings would have to decide if his death was something that happened due to a recent cause or if the symptoms had been there for years. It would end with them accepting him for what he was...a witty jackass who made them better doctors.

^No -- at the end of the episode, they'd all gather for the playing of House's video will, in which he would reveal the true cause of his death that everyone else missed. His last word to them would be "Morons!"

Or "Lupus." :)

Actually, that would be awesome, in a sardonic sort of way. Given all the times that lupus gets through out in the differential, and House's reaction is, "No, it's not lupus," to have House die of lupus (after he'd been hiding it) would be, well, the sort of ironic turn that House would love. :)

They already did an episode years ago where it turned out to be lupus, though, so it wouldn't quite carry the same weight anymore.
