Torchwood Children of Earth Question

Captain
I'm rewatching Torchwood's Children of Earth I managed to get on tape off of BBC America from someone.

I only ever saw two episodes online, plus this mini-series I'm rewatching.

In Episode One, they introduced a Doctor Rupesh Popanjali who was trying to infiltrate Torchwood. He made up a story about bodies going missing at the hospital to try to infiltrate Torchwood. At the hospital, he shot Jack, and soldiers planted a bomb in Jack but then they shot Doctor Rupesh Popanjali, so when Jack woke up, both he and this Doctor were both dead and he didn't suspect this guy. When Jack got back to Torchwood the bomb went off and blew up the base.

Later, when Jack healed from death, the soldiers filled the room with cement to trap him. When the hot woman Gwen Cooper and her husband came to rescue Jack, they disguised themselves as funeral home people who were being sent to collect the body of Doctor Rupesh Popanjali. The black soldier said they had THREE bodies. The hot woman Gwen Cooper and her husband saw the body of Doctor Rupesh Popanjali, then when trying to find Jack they opened another body bag and saw another man. It wasn't Jack so they tried another room, which is where they found a cement wall when they opened the door.

Who was this second man in the body bag? I keep going over it in my head, and I can't figure out who it was.

I like how you describe Gwen as "hot woman" every time you mention her in your post. I don't remember who was in the other body bag but I'm guessing it was just a generic corpse.

The other body might've been Jack's brother Grey or any number of the other bodies kept at the Hub.

They SHOWED the face of the other body. If it was somebody like Jack's brother then everybody would know it.

Even the hot woman Gwen Cooper would have recognized him, wouldn't she? So it was somebody she didn't know or didn't care.

I've only seen two (on YouTube) plus this, so I didn't know if it was important. The other two I saw was the black Cyberwoman girlfriend and the season finale where they killed the other two team members.

When I get this done, I have to watch the Tennant specials (again YouTube) I haven't seen (downloaded them some time ago), and then I'm going to watch my $25 Ebay-bought boxed set of Matt Smith for the first time.

Well, you wouldn't want to be confused about WHICH Gwen Cooper he was talking about, would you?

Hey, I've already gotten the hot woman Eve Miles mixed up with the hot woman Sophia Myles.

I really want to join the Myle High Club. Someday I hope to be Mr. Madame Pompadour.

Remember that Jack was on a list of people they had planned to kill (people who knew about the original "gift") so the other body was probably somebody else from that list.

Because they still figured they might have to break down a wall?

Sure that's one thing, but how did he know to break the wall, lift up the block, and lift it out, all in one fluid attack and without batting an eyelash? Not even a "What the hell is that?" the way Gwen did just 30 seconds earlier.

The blast was big enough there was probably collateral damage, since Johnson didn't seem to care as long as the mission was fulfilled. It could have been the Jubilee Pizza delivery girl for all we know. Otherwise, though I agree it could have been one of any number of dead Torchwood operatives that are stored in the Hub (this was mentioned either in the first or second episode - one of their rules is if a Torchwood operative dies, they're interred in the Hub, ostensibly so their bodies can either be studied or to prevent autopsies for possibly revealing evidence of alien contact. So the body could have been that of Suzie Costello, for example.

...
My question is, if Gwen didn't know about the cement cell, then how did Ianto know and have enough foresight to get the perfect forklift for fetching the cell in the first place?

Wasn't Ianto watchin' from a distance when they poured the concrete into Jack's cell?

Up 'til Jack is freed, Gwen & Ianto were workin' on their own, and both had seperate plans to get Jack back. Ianto just got there first.

Ah, okay. That I can believe. Thanks much!

So he's talking about the one that isn't on Torchwood then?:p

Who else thinks that Suzie is due for another implausible resurrection plot?!

No. The three others on the hit list were people in 1965 that Jack never knew the names of, who were involved with the children transfer back then. Assuming the average age of 30, they are all 70. They were brought up on a monitor at one point when Jack learned they were all dead, and they were all old people.

Like the YouTube Video of the scene shows (about 1 minute 30 seconds into it), this body was not an old person.

The Hub was sealed off. If it were the extra people in the Hub, they would have found more than one complete body.

Who's Suzy? I've only seen 7 episodes.

Suzie appeared in the first season. Basically in the first episode, she messes around with the Ressurection glove, and is later brought back using it for one episode (They Keep Killing Suzie) She was played by actress Indira Varma, who was in the ROME series (Which has a few Doctor Who connections apart from her).

Some people have suggested a link between the Ressurection glove and Rassilon's 'death glove' from End of Time, but I think that's been debunked.
