the big bang theory "the benefactor factor"

Obviously the writers want Priya's attitude towards Penny and Leonard to rub the viewers the wrong way. They want us to be happy when she and Leonard break up.

And they seem to want Penny and Leonard to get back together and be the Rachel and Ross of TBBT. Which I am not happy with, since somehow those two don't have chemistry.

She doesn't know that Leonard isn't the type to cheat. We don't know that Leonard isn't the type to cheat. We assume he's not the type to cheat. But, have we ever seen him in that situation?
.

Not exactly. But the one time a drunken Penny showed up at his doorstep looking for a booty call, he jumped at the chance.

He was single at the time and still had feelings for her (and they would have done it again a few episodes back pre-Priya when they were at that congress and were only interrupted by Raj). However it could well be that Penny is the only person he'd leave Priya for because obviously he is still in love with her.

And i don't think that Leonard is a cheat because he is a very decent guy and honest so hurting someone intentionally just to have sex seems beyond him and very out of character. I dare say that even Howard would not cheat despite him being the sex freak on the show and Leonard apparently still hasn't read the book that was given to him

Obviously the writers want Priya's attitude towards Penny and Leonard to rub the viewers the wrong way. They want us to be happy when she and Leonard break up.

Exactly.. they set it up intentionally in a way that most people dislike so when it's time for her to be dumped Leonard will have a real reason than just "Penny's back!" and people will not jump on Leonard for being a turncoat.

Leonard's a decent guy, but he's also a normal guy - and a nerd. Remember when he did it with (was it Sarah Gilbert?) and Pennt asked him why - he said "She let me!"

Normal guy.

Friend's Rachel/Ross story line was good and should have ended after he said Rachel's name when he married Emily and Rachel saw how silly it was when she told Ross she had feelings for him. The only saving grace for that season was the Chandler/Monica story line.

TBBT needs to dump Priya (which I'd gladly watch, she's seems to be as much dead weight as Hannah was on Bones.) And get the core cast with AFF and Bernadette added in. Raj being the odd man out, would still have his "ersatz homosexual marriage" with Howard, which I think Bernadette is fine with.

I think it's a safe bet Priya won't be Leonard's gf for much longer.. as good as the writing sometimes is on TBBT they are not terribly subtle :p

I'm just curious how big the bitch fight is gonna be.. Penny knows how to throw down but Priya is an unknown factor. I'm looking forward to the season finale :techman:

Damn basketball is on instead of one the funniest shows on tv . who cares about basketball now football thats a sport . but it should not interfear with my shows !!!!

Annoying some of the contrivances used on tv shows sometimes.

If your online account was hacked, you'd contact the admins, not the police. And probably get your stuff back, and the other guy banned.

Taking a weapon to the other guy's house? Not good. Of course, once he steals it from Sheldon, NOW there's a theft he could report. Or at least he could think about it, until Penny comes back and adds assault to the list of things the cops now have to sort out.

The Penny/Leonard/Priya part of the story was enjoyable, but Sheldon's part didn't do it for me. Know the guys are kinda clueless sometimes, but they're all smarter than that. Imagine Sheldon's smart enough to have a fairly impossible account to hack in the first place. And when Penny says she's clueless about WoW but know the guys, didn't she go through a brief WoW addiction herself at one point, so has experience with the game?

Though I liked the episode, I agree with all you said. And it's just another example of what I was talking about up thread, about how five minute's worth of homework on the writers' part would have made it all seemed so much more authentic.

True enough Sheldon's password would be something difficult to guess and take to long to use brute force to bust, but then it may be that being the Star Trek fan he he is his password may have been the Reliant's prefix code: 16309. Or a variation on that.

In sitcoms you don't do the logical thing or there'd be little humor. Also sitcoms have a floating canon. The events of the week before do not have to be inline with the current episode. There are some exceptions of course, but in general small things like Penny playing WoW can be ignored. Then again she could have forgotten the worlds name.

Most of the things they said about the game was painfully wrong. Most notably, Sheldon would definitely have had an authenticator in addition to a password.

No arguing there, but they could have at least tried to get the other material right. Such as the equipment names the threw out, the complete and utter inability to track someone down via the game the way they represented it, the whole laying in wait in a tavern to confront him, and hell even the "armored ostrich" or whatever he called it not to mention that they wouldn't have been selling it on the auction house.

They should have just made up a name for some other game instead. Then they could have avoided all that under the guise of being a spoof of World of Warcraft.

Come on.. really?

You are harping on mistakes made about a game that the majority of viewers won't notice but enable the plot?

Way to go to nitpick an enjoyable episode to death..

Yep. Especially when, as mentioned, they could have just used any random game title in its place. There wasn't any need to mention World of Warcraft. But since they did, they should have at least tried to get some of it in the right neighborhood since, you know, the entire point of mentioning it is to appeal to the people familiar with it.

Perhaps you've forgotten what forum you're on.

I can't help but find some kind of quasi-irony in all of this.

Yeah, I played WoW for years, and none of that bothered me. I didn't even notice half the stuff Checkmate is going on about. I'd rather have stuff that makes me laugh over stuff that is 100% authentic when only 1% of the population would even notice.

Generally enjoyable episode, more laughs than other recent ones. Still ready for Priya to leave soon.
