ALTERNATE HISTORY Thread - What would happen if...

Then the founders would have had 3 different diseases wiping them now. They would have all died toward the beginning of season 7, but the Vorta wouldn't let the Jem'Hadar know that. Instead, the Vorta (especially that snake, Weyoun) push the Jem'Hadar even harder now that the Founders are no longer appearing to us as they have before. They must be among us, examining us to make sure we loyal to the Dominion! When no trace of the founders can be found (except Odo, but then he's very ill), Romulans and Klingons think that Odo is somehow representative of the Founders and have him assassinated. The Vorta were only the administrators of the White distribution-- not the brains. After randomly successful attacks on the White facilities, the Alliance prevents any more Jem'Hadar from getting their drugs. The Jem'Hadar all die (save one on a GQ planet somewhere, but he'll never leave because he thinks the planet is whats keeping him alive), and the AQ bickering resumes as normal.

What if MU Sisko hadn't died but instead somehow came into the RU. Then he masquerades as Sisko, and no one can tell the difference between the two?

^If you were following this game's rules, you shouldn't mention the coming to RU (technically there is no such the thing as "real" universe), and the whole "masquerading" thing. So I'm doing to ignore all those points except for the MU Sisko still being alive

Because MU Sisko doesn't die, the MU Jadzia never died. In Season 7, Our Worf found her and brought her back.

What rules? I don't recall any being mentioned aside from this:

Here's how this works:

I'll start with a simple twist
. The genetically enhanced quartet in "Statistical Probabilities" somehow succeed in transferring copious amounts of sensitive Federation information to the Dominion (outposts, shield frequencies, security information, etc.)--- What happens next? (how does this change the timeline?)

Reply with a paragraph describing the outcome, character paths (whatever you want). Then, RESET BUTTON: Come up with your own change in the timeline for the next poster.

Also, Infinix made a similar post on page 4, which nobody had a problem with.

Well, I personally couldn't tell. You might want to make your jokes a bit less "subtle", next time. ;)

Ah...it would basically be the same as it happened in the actual series--just some lines of dialogue from Kassidy on the bald head and Odo-Curzon on the beared are changed.

On the other hand...perhaps he wins battles less. He wasn't as intimidating and awesome-looking before he shaved his head and grew the beard.

Therefore, his enemies are less likely to surrender.

What if Worf had decided to go with Gowron in "The Way of the Warrior", joining his fight against the Cardassians?

Intelligence given to the Klingons by Worf, on both the Cardassians and the Federation, leads to the Klingons laying waste to Cardassia. Worf is at first lauded as a hero by the Klingons--but when the Dominion comes through the wormhole and attacks the Federation, now weakened by constant warfare with Klingons who have used this intelligence to render the Federation fleet obsolete, the Alpha Quadrant makes easy pickings, with the exception of the Romulan-Breen alliance, which eventually turns the Dominion back--but only after mass use of the thalaron weapon.

In the eventual evaluation of history, by the few survivors, Worf's position will be re-evaluated to that of a traitor, up there with Benedict Arnold, Colonel Green, and Duras.

What if there had been no way for Kira Nerys to prove that she was or was not Tekeny Ghemor's daughter? (This was actually considered as a possible ending of "Second Skin.")

Kira decides that she does not care. She only has memories of being Kira Nerys, and considers herself a Bajoran in her own mind - whether or not her biological form is.

However, she does convince Ghemor to take up permanent residence on DS9 and direct the Cardassian dissident movement from there. (Central Command is powerless to interfere.) Ghemor's contacts in the movement manage to assassinate Dukat before he has the chance to sign the treaty with the Dominion. Thus, Cardassia joins up with the Alpha Quadrant powers, and war with the Dominion is over much sooner and less bloody. After the war, Ghemor turns down an offer to lead Cardassia, and retires peacefully. He still dies, but is buried on Cardassia with full honors.

What if Sisko never got into that fight with Solok (Take Me Out To The Holosuite)?

With a stronger arm (never having been broken), he is able to climb down the jefferies tube on the Saratoga faster. As a result, he was able to rescue Jennifer. As a result, he was never a broken man.

In 2369, he was promoted to Captain and given command of Deep Space Nine....

REBOOT!

What if Jake decided to join the Maquis?

Then Sisko would have to throw him in a cell to ship him off to a magistrate. He did it to Kassidy. Odo is impervious to Jake's protests of "freedom of speech being suppressed" crap, and doesn't let him 'escape.' After a year in prison, Jake comes back. Sisko had no remorse about sending Kassidy to prison, and he had almost as no remorse about sending Jake there. So everything then returns to normal.

(Wow, that was lame. I guess my creative juices are evaporating.)

REBOOT!

What if Molly O'Brien had died in that cave 200 years ago and O'Brien never got her back?

REBOOT!

What if Jake decided to join the Maquis?

Depends on how old Jake was. There are two possibilities. 1. Sisko still considers Jake a child. 2. Sisko considers Jake a man.

Scenario 1. Sisko is infuriated that Jake has rebelled in this fashion and believes that the Maquis needs to be destroyed. With the help of Kira, he seeks out and destroys every Maquis stronghold looking for Jake. Sisko succeeds and in the process, basically wipes out the Maquis and renders them inconsequential. As a result, Janeway was never sent to the Badlands and Voyager was never snatched by the Caretaker.

Scenario 2. Sisko is saddened by the fact that Jake has made the decision to join the Maquis. He decides to win his son back by becoming a mediator between the Maquis, the Federation, and the Cardassians. He is successful in improving the relationship between the three parties, and helps to transform the Maquis fighters into a paramilitary arm of the Federation. The Maquis becomes a force of good during the Dominion War. Oh, and without the Maquis threat, Janeway was never sent to the Badlands and Voyager was never snatched by the Caretaker.

The future Janeway decides to come back in time and convince Jake to join the Maquis. :rommie:

What if Odo has really gone off with Laak (the other lost changling) to form a second Great Link?

Deep Space Nine is a lonely place without Odo, and Miles who spilt up with Keiko. Miles transfeered to a ship while Keiko went back to Earth. Near the Talarian Border, Miles comes to term with losing his family when the ship faces Laas and Odo.

Meanwhile, Quark is the new "torture me" character on DS9 who gets killed once a month.

What if Keiko had known that Miles drinks coffee in the afternoon?

Miles and Julian would have died while down on the planet. Sisko and crew would have arrived too late to save them, but would have found the bodies. In a fit of rage, Sisko kidnaps both of the alien ambassadors who were responsible for the kidnapping. He threatens to execute them, but learns that they would have died anyway since they (like all those other people who were killed) had knowledge of the bio weapons program. So their governments allow Sisko to proceed. He decides not to, however, and turns them over to the Federation for trial. They are found guilty and imprisoned.

Odo reveals the Martok changeling's presence. The Klingons kill the Changeling, then kill Sisko, Odo, and O'Brien for being complicit in the "dishonorable" challenge Worf brought. Kira is promoted to Brigadier General and given command of the station, but resigns within a couple hours because she can't reconcile her belief in the infallible, all-seeing Prophets with their allowing their Emissary to be killed by Gowron and returns to a monastery to contemplate her future. Jadzia Dax decides she can't stay on DS9 after seeing so many of her friends die and requests a transfer, eventually being assigned as first officer of the USS Sovereign, Admiral Nechayev's personal flagship. Hilarity ensues as Starfleet realizes this leaves no qualified commander on the station.

The Empire continues the war against the Federation and starts a new war against the Cardassians, who join the Dominion for assistance and resoundingly decimate the weakened, post-Federation War Empire. The Dominion War lasts for all of six weeks or so, while DS9's new commander, "Rear Admiral" Luther Sloan, assembles a fleet comprised of half of Starfleet and sends it into the Gamma Quadrant under the command of S31 double agent Commodore Jean-Luc Picard, leading to the destruction of the Founders' homeworld, massacre of the Vorta by the Jem'Hadar who off themselves, and Cardassia and Bajor joining the Federation on the same day.

What if The Circle's coup was successful, the Federation was permanently driven away from Bajor, and Kai Winn established a dictatorship, appointing General Krim Militia leader and leaving Li Nalas in command of DS9?

^ The challenge happened after the Martok changeling expose. It was the real Martok the whole time following the challange by Worf.

Dukat goes through surgery in order to appear Bajoran and intrafrilates the Circle who now controls the Bajoran sector. Dukat manages to convince Li Nalas to send a fleet into the Gamma Quadrant to find an ally that would help them crush the Cardassian Union. Dukat only has every intention to use this to attack the Federation at Bajor's expense Li arranges for a Maquis squardon to take him into the Gamma Quadrant.

After three Months, they encounter the Dominion. Dukat is swabbed with a changeling and sent back to the Alpha Quadrant, with several changelings hidden in the Maquis Quadrant. Two of them replaced Chakotay and Tuvok.....

What if Miles couldn't stop the Romulans from destroying the station
The Federation-Klingon-Romulan alliance is in tatters!

Immediately upon the destruction of DS9 at the hands of the Romulans, the Klingons' "suspicion" that the Romulans were a 5th column for the Dominion all along is "confirmed" (from Klingon point of view). In retaliation, the Klingons attack and destroy 15 Romulan outposts along the Klingon\Romulan border. The Romulans, while losing that territory, counter attack, and halt the Klingon advance further into Romulan space. The klingons and Romulans are quickly stalemated, neither side giving or taking ground, despite a bloody conflict along the Klingon\Romulan border.

The Federation, realizing that the alpha quadrant cannot defeat the Dominion without the Romulans' help, takes a more restrained approach, and does not attack the Romulans, to the chagrin of the Klingons. Instead, the Federation dispatches Picard, and the Enterprise to try to keep the fighting between the Klingons and Romulans from getting out of hand, and to attempt to salvage the alliance. As former arbiter of succession for Gowron, Picard persuades Gowron to consider a truce, if he can get the Romulans to stop fighting, first. Picard contacts Spock on Romulus covertly and manages to get Spock to persuade a faction of dissident Romulan senators (who have secretly begun to follow Surak's teachings as taught by Spock), to pressure the Romulan Praetor to declare a temporary truce with the Klingons.

The Klingons, realizing that their forces are weakened after fighting both the Cardassians, and later the Cardassian-Dominion Alliance, and that at best, they can only accomplish a stalemate with the Romulans, reluctantly agree to sit down at the behest of Picard, to a 3-way peace talk between the Federation, Romulans, and Klingons. Gowron is willing to "hear what Picard has to say", but when the Romulans demand lost territory back from the Klingons, the peace talks quickly fall apart. The fighting between the Klingons and Romulans resumes, and Gowron, declaring he is disgusted with Federation's unwillingness to join the fight against the Romulans, withdraws from the Federation-Klingon Alliance, vowing to fight on all fronts, should the Federation oppose them.

Meanwhile, seizing on an opportunity to capture the Alpha Quadrant with DS9 gone and no Federation presence at the Wormhole, the Dominion strikes deep into Federation territory, capturing Bajor and nearly 1/3 of the Federation worlds, including Andoria, Tellar, and some nearby Vulcan colonies including P'Jem. Vulcan prepares for a Dominion invasion.

Dominion advances continue into Romulan territory. Facing a 2 front war with Dominion and Klingon forces, the Romulans sue for peace with the Dominion. The dominion agrees, and accept the Romulan Star Empire as a vassal of the Dominion. Back on Romulus, Spock and his dissident movement following the teachings of Surak, are quickly rounded up and put to death.

The Klingons are quickly pushed out of Romulan Territory, and quickly lose ground to the Dominion. The Klingons fight valiantly but lose battle after battle and system after system, until Q'o'nos itself is within striking distance of the combined Romulan-Cardassian-Dominion fleet. The defeat of the Klingon Empire is eminent, and Q'o'nos is cut off from the rest of its empire, and the Federation. With no hope of receiving supplies or reinforcements, Gowron orders all Klingons to fight to the last warrior. The Romulans dispatch their newest Reman Warbird, the Scimitar, to Q'o'nos. Q'o'nos is fired upon, and all life is wiped out with a Thaloron radiation pulse. This scenario is played out time and again with the remaining Klingon outposts and colonies, throughout the Klingon Empire. The few remaining klingons retreat to Federation territory and ask for sanctuary.

The Dominion also dispatches ambassadors to the Ferengi, Gorn, Breen, and Tholians. Seeing how the Dominion has all but conquered the Cardassians, Romulans, Klingons, and with the defeat of the Federation only a matter of time, all of them join the Dominion.

Realizing they are surrounded on all sides with no chance for victory, and to save the lives of billions of its citizens, what remains of the Federation surrenders unconditionally to the Dominion.

^ The episode in question took well before the war, and well before Dominion sent forces into the AQ. At most, few changelings would be an issue since Rommies were going to destroy the wormhole (it was easier to do so at the time) after destroying the station.

But whatever.

I thought you were talking about Visionary, but I forgot it was in season 3.

Kurn (a.k.a. Rodek) would wonder why Worf is always hovering around him, but otherwise would become a favorite among the Rotarran crew. His memories would have eventually returned, however, and Rodek/Kurn would have become enraged at what he thought of as a violation of his own honor code. Still, he stays on as a member of the crew. In the end, it would be him, not Kor, who sacrificed himself on the Ning'tao to hold off the Jem'Hadar.
