Daylight Saving Time Reminder!!! Losing an Hour Tonight!!!

Really? DST means more sunlight during Nerys Ghemor Peak Efficiency Hours...meaning evening to night. And LESS sunlight to wake me up when I get my best sleep (in the morning). ;)

I hate switching back and forth! Spring is worse, but fall throws me off, too. I don't care whether it's standard time or DST -- just leave us in one or the other!

Dailylight time is better, Standard Time sucks with it getting dark at freakin' 5:00 in the evening. We should just stay on Daylight Time, stick with it. The farmers can just get up an hour earlier or whatever. It's too damn depressing for it to be 6:00 at night and for it to be pitch-black outside during the Winter.

I hate DST as well. People should just learn to live with whatever the sky looks like. If it's dark, it's dark; if it's light, it's light. DST is just another form of cheating.

:bolian: One of the things I used to love about backpacking / camping was living according to the natural light.

^ I didn't know you lived in Sask! That's where my favorite TV show is set. ;)

As for DST: The problem, IMHO, is that we all have so damn many clocks to set. It would help a lot if all clocks, indeed anything that has a timer, could have the option of being set to a network time server just like our computers do. Thus we would never need to adjust any of our clocks for DST.

Once IPv6 becomes the norm, theoretically every piece of technological equipment on Earth could have its own Internet address (there is more than enough room in IPv6 for this), so maybe this will one day be feasible.

We have that already. The alarm clocks in our house automatically reset after a power outage AND automatically adjust for DST. Purchased at BJ's Wholesale Club, but I have seen them at Sam's Club, IIRC.

...and for Mr. Laser Beam, I found this.

^ Interesting. How's that work? Do they have 'net access of some kind? How do they sync to a time server if they don't have that?

What's the make and model of the clock?
