Survivor: Redemption Island Discussion (Spoilers)

And what the hell does Stephanie think she's going to do without Russell? "Storm's a-coming"? She does realize that almost the entire tribe is against her, right?

Stephanie is starting to remind me of one of Charles Manson's crazier followers . . . .

voting out Russell is an idiotic move because of what the game of Survivor is about. It's about getting to that final vote and convincing the jury to vote for you over the other person (or people once it went to final 3).

Why wouldn't you want a person who is so detested by how he's played the game in two previous seasons and has already shown he can't convince people to vote for him in the final vote.

It's like you just made your chance 1 in 2 instead of 1 in 3 (if it's a final 3 this year again).

Not to mention Russell has shown that his scheming has allowed him to get 'his people' to the final vote in both seasons he played. One of the seasons being his tribe going into a merger the LESSER numbers and still managing to win out the season.

Russell may be a dick and a snake, but he gives you the best chance of winning Survivor by keeping him around.

Isn't a 1-in-2 chance better than a 1-in-3 chance?

;)

Which is what I was saying. I wasn't saying by voting out Russell they made their chance 1 in 2 instead of 1 in 3. I'm saying if you kept him around and brought him to the final 3 it's like a 1 in 2 chance instead of a 1 in 3 chance for you.

This episode actually managed to almost make me root for Gollum for once, because he recognized that they threw the challenge (mainly because of that idiot on the puzzle who didn't even try and fake it) and because of how incredibly stupid it is to throw a challenge, especially this early on and when you're only up by two. I was hoping he could pull off the turnaround, but no dice.

I thought they would nix the plan to throw the challenge when they found out it was also a reward challenge. Instead, they were doubly stupid. Not only did they lose half of their numbers advantage, but they gave a lot of creature comforts to the other tribe. The tarp alone was worth playing for. Throwing the challenge may have given the other tribe a big shot of momentum. An idiotic move all around.

Yeah, I was sure when it was a reward made up of chairs, blankets and other survival gear they'd nix their plan to throw the challenge. Turns out they're just stupid.

Lets not forget they gave up an imunity idol as well.

No way Russel is going to survive RI he sucks at individual challenges. Gollum is done.
I'm sure they will come up with an easy challenge for Russel to win at least one. He seems to be good at endurance challenges. I doubt he will survive though.

Yeah, I was shocked when they still gave the thumb's up to throw the challenge after seeing the reward. Stupid, stupid move.

The funniest part about it though is that Rob's tribe sucks so hard at challenges that even with deliberately turning the water wheel slowly and missing the water tube, the other tribe was still in it and could have won up until the guy just decided to do nothing while standing at the puzzle.

Free at last.. free at last,, finally this little hobbit is voted out :techman:I will be rooting for Matt to beat him in next episode and sent him packing for good.
Before i go into this episode i want to address some point in last episode. I really dont understand why Rob had vote out Matt in last episode. Matt was literally thanking God that he was on a same tribe as Rob and in his alliance. I didn't see the threat that he espoused to Rob. I felt Rob was eaten into his 6 person alliance instead of finishing off 2 stragglers(Philip & Kristina) However i am kind of grateful that they kept Philip around because he is very entertaining and his last tribal performance deserved a academy reward.
Anyway back to this episode. Matt barely beats Fran to stay in the game. I like Matt as he seems a good dude. So i will be rooting for him against Russell.
Regarding throwing the challenge. I agree it was risky move but it had to be done to break up Russell and young girls alliance. There is always possibility for tribal switch that could have worked for Russell advantage. Better to take him out now and hope that Matt beat him. So now with Russell gone Steph really didn't do her any favors with her attitude during tribal. She seems rude and unlikeable person. Also what with her coments ,, storm is coming,, She was blindsided and lost her biggest ally and she is next to go if they lose the next immunity challenge. So much for the biggest blindside everrrr Stephenie.

I think Matt's going to be extra-motivated during the next duel. Who wouldn't want to go down in Survivor history as the guy who beat Russell?

I'm still not sure what to make of Rob's decision to get rid of Matt. The biggest benefit was obviously that Rob wouldn't get blind-sided by the idol (which was a possibility had the holder of the idol been a bit more creative), and he may have seen something in Matt and his six-day girlfriend that would threaten his safety long-term. On the other hand, he did significantly mess with his alliance. It was a very risky move.

Well I'd personally never throw a challenge, especially so freaking obviously, I can't say I blame them for wanting Russell out - the guy is a habitual liar who steals machetes and hides them, dumps out water canteens and burns peoples socks, not to mention finds hidden immunity idols with uncanny consistency. All he does is bring chaos to the tribes he's in. I'm sure he'll be back though as this game with its Redemption twist is designed to keep Rob and Russell in play in the likely scenario they get voted off.

Rob kicking out Matt made sense to me, he flushed the idol out and got rid of someone who he perceived to be a threat, that's how you play Survivor imo.
Good season so far, I'm definitely enjoying it. That little firecracker Stephanie and her mouth kind of turn me on! She's screwed though.

I really hope that throwing the challenge really bites them in the butt. Such a terrible thing to do, so early in the game or at all. Sure, I don't think letting Russel get to the merge is a good idea, but that is still some time away!

Oh my, so much stupidity. Where to start? "I used to be a federal agent"+freakout at the first tribal, Russell being Russell yet again, immunity idol being advertised to the whole tribe yet again, Rob not getting voted out ASAP, Rob being incredibly cocky and bossy, etc etc.

I really like Russell  I was hoping he would go a little bit longer than he did. TOO BAD!!!!

Like I said, Russell sucks at challenges. His crying at the end of his challenge was a bit...odd. Not sure what to make of it but him calling everyone out on their BS was awesome and Dude With the Idol is the worst liar ever.

I'm only twenty minutes into the latest episode, but holy crap, Russell calling them out after losing on Redemption Island was awesome.

How frickin' stupid is Farmer John to tell everyone, including the other team, that he has the immunity idol? He better hope he never pisses off his own team, or they'll force him to use it.

You know, I never took Philip seriously as a "special agent," but he did zero in on the fact that Farmer John was telling the truth about the immunity idol right away with no hesitation.

My goodness, he really can't handle losing, can he? And he should be an expert at it by now. I don't care if Matt wins another challenge, he's the king right now.
