Thot Gor...Pren?

There is a question burning in my mind. Were there two different Breen-commanders? Thot Gor and Thot Pren (or something)? The Founder calls the one I´d say is Thot Gor, Pren in one episode. I think in Tacking into the wind...or so. Or when Thot is the rank, could it be first name and last name? Pren Gor? And that she used Pren instead of Gor is to show us how "close" they have become?
Someone noticed that as well?

I think Thot is a rank. And you can never distinguish one from the other because they all wear those fancy coolant uniforms.

There were two Breen leaders, yes. Thot Gor and then Thot Pran, who was also addressed as "General". So if his rank was General, "Thot" might be a more unspecified military title, like a respectful "sir" or such? The novels seem to suggest that it's a more general title for military leaders independent of their more specific rank. Of course, it's hard to tell the Breen apart, as heavylids notes. I can't remember if the Breen leader in the final episode is Pran or Gor again. Maybe Gor was involved in creating the alliance and then was recalled (promoted?) and Pran took over on Cardassia? Or perhaps there are internal power struggles and Gor lost influence (I recall a Trek Role Play Game proposing that this sort of replacement is common as Breen society reshuffles its political structure - maybe the creators were trying to justify the Gor/Pran issue?).

I've always Thot that a Thot was a General or thereabouts.

In which case Weyoun calling him "General" was just his translation of "Thot"? That makes sense...but personally I prefer a different explanation for "Thot", because of the Damar comment. :) When Damar says "that's the equivalent of a Legate, isn't it?", Gor dismisses him by saying he needs his translator adjusted. I always assumed that meant "Thot" was akin to "sir" or "mister", not a rank. On the other hand, it occurrs to me that maybe it is a rank and Gor was being dismissive of Damar's authority - perhaps he meant "Thot is superior to Legate, not equivalent". ;)

Nice pun on thought/thot, by the way...

Obviously the writers figured giving us two virtually indistinguishable commanders during the last leg of the show would really help to flesh out the Breen in our eyes.

Aha, thank you. So there were two indeed. Hmm...OR the Founder made a mistake and confused names! :D

"Gods don't make mistakes!" as Weyoun reminded Damar once.

Maybe it's just me, but I always thought that Thot Gor was much taller (than everyone).

Did Thot Gor do a movie on Breen Climate Change?

Okay I really need to get caught up in the series because the only thing I remember about the Breen is that they never took off that off road helmet of theirs, had glowing green eyes, sported a Predator like jump suite, and had a creepy ass mechanical voice that was all, "GRRRR RA GUR RA!.... GRRRRR!"

.... They still made great allies to the Dominion. Would have owned the Alpha Quadrant if Damar hadn't tucked tail and ran. Dukat was better. :/

Of course you know that this thread swarms with Cardassians...

What you remember about the Breen is pretty much everything we know about the Breen :guffaw:

I never got that "legate" stuff with the Cardassians either. You've got glinns and guls and... legates.

One of these things is not like the other.

The writers always intended to keep the Breen mysterious.

Weird. I thought they always intended to keep the Breen a plot device.

>thinks, cos honestly didn't notice: "oh shit!"<

... My faith in the founders and the dominion will keep me safe....

And did we ever see a Breen without the helmet on? I was sure there was one episode where one Breen was lying about, dead on the rocks with its helmet off. Looked like a gooey alligator... but that could have been some odd dream I had back in the 90's. Not sure. :/

"Gods don't make mistakes!" as Weyoun reminded Damar once.

Unless he also said that to Dumar, I think he first said that to Major Kira. I remember that episode because Odo and The Female Founder slept together, and then Weyoun looked extremely confused while looking at a painting. Not sure, but I think he sniffed it if I can remember. (the look on his face was a priceless, "I DON'T GET IT!")

DS9 is turning into crack cocaine for me at this rate. :/ I'm about ten seconds away from hooking up the VHS and digging around in the garage for all the VHS tapes that my uncle sent to me of Star Trek.

Tucked tail and ran???!!!!! How was that with Weyoun 5? Transporter ACCIDENT? ....
Oh Hello Weyoun 10...what a nice surprize to see another of you. Lets transport to Cardassia and have a nice Welcome-Kanar together.
Vorta first of course. I have good manners. Please allow me to help you on the transporter pad... ;)

Your dream. We never saw a Breen without a helmet off...or without anything else off, for that matter.

I HAVE A FORM OF AESTHETICS!

Wait....
so... they still had helmets on for the whole series? What a pity. :/
