Where was the batman and wonder women reference? I must have missed it.
The reference starts at the 1:50 mark...

I almost missed it too. For a split second, I thought the billionaire she was referring to was Oliver Queen.

Now that Oliver and Chloe are married and living in Star City, does that mean Oliver is gone too?
I wonder how long their marriage will last. Ollie is destined to be with Black Canary.

^ Yeah, but Smallville usually gets the big stuff, so I can imagine that Ollie and Chloe won't last even if we never see them break up.

Oh that's cool, I guess that's the best part in the episode, always seems the last 5 min are the most important anyway.

I want to see Wonder Women

I was expecting to be really disappointed with this episode, with it just being a Hangover ripoff. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was nice to see the cast let loose and get a little silly. The way I see it, this is the last chance they'll get to do something like this. The remaining episodes will all be about the darkness so it was nice just to have some fun.

Well I feel the same. I have no problem with fun/silly episodes, every series needs it. It's the lack of originality I hate. That's why the episode is an Epic Fail. If it was an original story, I would give it a good rating. Again, nothing wrong with lite episodes Emilvis was the highlight IMO, but the writers are to blame for this one.

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

Fun/silly isn't what I expect in the final run of episodes. I want full on arc, taking the series where it is supposed to end, not fluff.

Even more jarring that the numerous 180's the Tess character has been through was Emil hanging out with them like they're all BFFs. That was kind of sudden, wasn't it? I suppose now he'll go back to never appearing anywhere outside the hospital like this episode never happened.

Re: the drag scene not being lifted from The Hangover... Fret not, it wasn't original, either. The awkward stage performance seems to be the one item they neglected to steal from Date Night last week, so they found a place for it this week.

And finally, a question... When Chloe told Clark about her new job toward the end, the way she told him that she had a new double identity, it made me feel like there was some kind of a comic book reference I was missing there. Why does she need a double identity? Are they trying to imply that she's someone else who is important in the comic book world?

Though it doesn't quite fit, it was felt for a while that she was Smallville's version of Oracle.

Plus, it was the farewell of the show's most popular character. Gotta do better than that.

I thought of Oracle when the whole Watchtower business started. But {ducks and covers} I'm not a comic book guy, so I only knew Oracle from the Birds of Prey show, and I didn't know if Watchtower was adapted from comic continuity or created for Smallville.

It just seemed the way Chloe specifically mentioned her new employer's name (the Star City Examiner, I think?), that it must mean something. Aside from it being in Oliver's hometown, that is. I guess not.

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

Yeah it as an implication that she'd be working a a reporter in Star City.

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

And when did Tess become just one of the girls? I feel sorry for the poor actress. Her head must be spinning trying to maintain some sort of consistent character.
Hey, she gets paid, and probably doesn't have to watch the show anyhow. It's the viewers I feel sorry for.

Which is why I can't bring myself to care about Rosenbaum returning for the finale. Either way, it'll almost certainly be some ridiculous, cheap-looking cartoon without humanity or style. Still, I'll probably give it a watch, but only the finale, mind. :p

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

I liked this episode. I laughed, I cried, I kissed 48 minutes good-bye. I haven't seen The Hangover yet despite it being on my DVR for the last 6 months. But as I've stated in the thread for the last episode, I have the bar set really low for this show. So, I just relax and have fun. And for those bemoaning the lack of character development, arc progression, quality dialog, spurious logic as well as quickie anti-climatic resolutions...uh...have you not been watching over the last 10 years? Nothing has changed! Just be glad we don't have him pining over Lana anymore and enjoy what you can!

My favorite moment was Clark running into the corner of the building while trying to superspeed. See? Keep that bar set low!

Sorry, but one would have to be a little kid not to see the difference between the average quality of writing between the first three seasons (the first two especially - which, while varying ep to ep, some some very strong installments) and these latest ones. Also, the production values of those earlier years were fantastic, with lots of variety, huge sets/landscapes, plentiful extras, etc. But that's changed, as even the vast majority of those who've stuck with the show will admit.

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

Tess just hanging with "everyone" was like an Ewok playing the biscuit game with a squad of Imperial Storm Troopers.

Oh yeah, let's go back to the freak of the week marathon by all means!

Re: Smallville: 10x15 "The Hang...", er, "Fortune" - Discussion & Spoi

I rewatched the first two seasons recently and I was amazed by the consistency of the B-stories carrying along all the characters plot arc wedges in and around the meteor Freaks of the week. Sure it was about love triangles and secret murders, day time doap opera bullsht, butt here's a reason that stuff keeps the lowest common denominator chuckling.
