What is the minimum you'd need to rule the world today?

infinix

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I need a runabout (Danube Class) fitted with (4 optional modules) 1 x holosuite, 1 x redundant warp core, 1 x large replication unit, 1 x science lab, extra torpedo pods, matter/anti-matter pods, and a cloaking device. Additionally, I will need Data, programmed to be absolutely loyal to me, as my crew.

Given this, I will have the option of either destroying all military force on Earth and rule through fear or overwhelm the world with the superior technology and rule through economical means.

Could you do it with any less or do you think you need more?

Less: 1 x 26th or 31st century time ship.

I can control the past and shape the future.

One Bird of Prey and enough fuel and supplies to keep it well-stocked.

Cloaking lets you hit any target on the globe without them knowing, and the advanced sensors let you target selectively.

I'd do it for $100,000 tax free per year, and a free hand..

Huh? You can rule the world with $100,000 a year in cash payment and a free hand?? By free hand do you mean an assistant?

Can you please elaborate more on how you intent carry out your plan? There are plenty of people who clear $100,000 after taxes.

The world is addicted to cheap energy like crack. Anyone who could offer and control the use of fusion energy would gain vast vast sums of money.

Since money can manipulate politics and mass psychology, the economic puppet master approach is propably best.

If you flat out went Khan then you would be dealing with open revolt constantly and would not have any time for vacation.

You could probably do it with a single shuttle. They've got phasers, torpedoes, shields, transporters, replicators, supercomputers, and can be fully automated. Was the holosuite to relax in? It'd be nice but not necessary. You could hack a Swiss bank and give yourself all the money you'd need to live comfortably on Earth, and do all your threatening via remote link to the shuttle. Just replicate yourself a communicator. Demand the world follow your orders (create a CG avatar to speak for you - no need to know what you look/sound like, so you could live planetside) and if they don't, a single torpedo or phaser shot could level a city or obliterate a dam or set off a tidal wave. The cloak isn't necessary because anything pointed at you your shields would stop or the autopilot could outmaneuver. Say you're in power fifty years and they've developed a ground-based laser, your scanners would pick it up long before operational - as would your computer, hacking into whatever inferior Earth supercomputers are being used to develop it. Hell, let them develop weapons for decades, giving them hope, and vaporize them shortly before completion. You'd be long dead before you'd need to worry about forceful resistance. Just remember to turn off the damn shuttle before you die (maybe tune it to your lifesigns) or it will rule forever until some Kirk-figure comes along and talks it into frying itself.

I think your biggest problem is the batteries... Replicate some solar panels?

I think I get it. :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

T'Girl just means that if you're hiring for the position of world ruler, look no further. All T'Girl wants is 100K etc.

That's what you get for wording the question that way.

This however is a fair question.

Yeah, I was worried about the power source. Which is why I have a redundant warp core and extra Matter/Anti-Matter pods.

The holodeck is more for convenience than debauchery. With it, I can change where I live and how I decorate in an instant. Though I see your point that I could probably just own 1500 different houses and make use of the transporter.

Data is help me replenish the matter/anti-matter reserve.

Science / Medical lab is so I can live till I'm 150.

Large replicator unit is so I can make just about whatever I want whenever I want.

Everything else is self-explanatory. Hell, it looks like I don't really need to rule the world if I had everything I listed.

I don't agree with the idea of a shuttle or Danube class shuttle even if you have the torpedo pod, you are not Voyager with the infinite amount of supplies. You WILL run out of torpedoes and you can't just use the on board replicator to make more torpedoes.

There would have to be a means that required not blowing everything up!

The time ship idea is neat, the OP never said WHEN you were the ruler. Combine a time ship with another ship (I would imagine a ship in the 31st century would have this ability) and take over Rome at the height of the empire as a god. You are now the ruler of the known world. And with your technology, Rome never falls.

Well, I understand that I will eventually run out of supplies, that's why I have Data around to help me search, produce, and replenish my supplies. Cause otherwise, even a time ship will run out of its energy source.

As far as WHEN I will rule, I'm confident that the 24th century tech will be more than enough to rule the world as it is today.
