Spartacus Gods of the Arena

Solonius is a "worthy" friend for Quintus Batiatus... they are BOTH scum :barf2: and they are both hot for Lucretia! :bolian:

And, from the shallow end of the pool... Crixus looks MUCH better after a shave and a haircut!

Gannicus, Gannicus,Gannicus!!!!!!!

Can't wait for 1/2012! (The "world" better not end before season "2" wraps up!) :p

If all that 2012 bullshit were real then you'd still have till the winter solstice of 2012 before the world ends, at least according to all the 2012 garbage.(Dec 21, 2012)

I have yet to check this out - did they do away with the nekkid chicks and only keep the violence/gore aspect? I ask cos nobody seems to be mentioning any...

There is actually a lot MORE sex in Gods. A lot of the earlier episodes could be classified as softcore porn.

Spartacus=Sex+Violence. There is no need to mention it. The nakedness is ubiquitous. The characters don't even look when they pass topless women in the streets because they are so common.

Actually the finale had no sex in it! Just gore! But it was the only episode you could say that about.

I sincerely hope we will see again that evil blond chick from last year next season...

it's historical fiction based on roman society of the period .
watch rome form hbo ran two season same people who do spartacus.
no it isn't ur a unifrmed person
it tell u this right at the begining that it a historical portrayal or did you mean he was wrong about the same people doing the show because on the fiction part u would be ill informed on the other i have no comment as do not know or care other than it was a good show also

No surprise on
Crixus, Oenomaus, Gannicus, and Glaber
returning, since they were actual commanders serving alongside Spartacus in the revolt and their first serious Roman opponent, respectively.

Good to hear about the others, however.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the transition to depicting raids and later a large scale battle as they approach the first siege on Vesuvius.

I've heard this elsewhere, (Commanders in the Revolt) but given the tendency of these producers (in a PREVIOUS series ;) ) to play fast and loose with history, I was afraid to hope for such "honesty".

I too have certain questions re: "How" they are going to move forward.

1) Since women have no rights in Roman society without the protection of a Male Roman citizen, what happens to Lucretia? Does she continue to blackmail Ilythia (sp?) or does some unknown brother of Quintus or an uncle show up?

2) I thought property etc passed down to the male heir. Does Lucretia become destitute if her pregnancy doesn't survive the bloodbath? And if it survives, does she hold the land/l/nonslave wealth of the ludus until said delivery? And if she delivers a girl, will she switch it for some hapless slave's newborn son just for "appearences?

3) Oh... and SPEAKING of Crixus... I got to say, his "performance" over the past "5 years" really puts the lie to Gaia's claim of Gaul virility. His grandfather had 5 sons, his father had 5 sons, and he's boinking the Domina for 5 years BEFORE she even gets pregnant? Undefeated Gaul, my ... "eye"! :p

You might want to spoiler code your post about #1 & 2 if you can still edit it. :)

My guess on #1 is that
Lucretia will approach Legatus Glaber with an offer of a partnership and possibly marriage (since he's no longer with Ilythia) in exchange for knowledge about Spartacus and his compatriots. She knows about Crixus' search for Naevia, for instance. She will use this relationship to regain power and seek revenge against her enemies, namely Spartacus, Crixus, and Ilythia.

Ashur is so two-faced he could go either way, toward Lucretia or Ilythia, or offer assistance to Glaber himself with his own inside knowledge of the revolting slaves. I'm just hoping Oenomaus gets another shot at killing him, though.

Um. Unless it's HER field that's a little... barren?

I just finished watching it. And if have to say, it's the only prequel I can think of that wasn't disappointing.

Gods of the Arena was fantastic.

Gods of the Arena was fantastic.

Indeed, I think some of the highest praise I can give it is that when it was over, I immediately went back and rewatched the first episode of "Blood and Sand" and the transition felt very natural.

I had the somewhat unique pleasure of watching Gods of the Arena before I started watching Blood & The Sand.

So I had no clue what was happening and where it all would lead.

It was great not knowing in advance what would transpire.

They also picked up another viewer as a result. So ready for Season 2.
