So, I'm reading Katharine Hepburn's Me: Stories of My Life. It's very interesting...and I can't help but hear it being read in Kate Mulgrew's voice.

Her voice REALLY comes out in "The making of the African Queen". I imagine I'm sitting in her library, before the fireplace, on a snowy afternoon, sipping hot chocolate while she tells me stories of Africa.

Best line that I can remember?

"I may have to kill him." by Huston, as he's standing up facing a charging bull elephant while Hepburn is nose down into the African dirt trying to look very small.

If you want a real fanboy bio, read Scott Berg's volume, "Kate Remembered"...published the month after she died.

I believe Mulgrew has stated that she is not a feminist, though her definition and mine may wildly differ. Certainly she is quite forthcoming about the responsibility she felt portraying the first woman captain. That quote was from an interview with a gay magazine so I assume that's why the topic is addressed directly without the whole women issue included.

Oh, I had figured that. I'm just surprised that the lack of women in Star Trek hasn't been brought up more often.

Where it really needs to be brought up is in the reboot. Three female characters and they killed off two of them. I'll be very interested to see if they introduce any new female characters.. from TOS would be particularly cool.. heh I will start a thread on ST:XI about it.
