"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

Spacey won an Oscar for his first movie with Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects), then went on to play a villain in a major franchise/ blockbuster movie for Singer (Superman Returns). Had he played the villain in Sam Mendes forthcoming Bond movie, there would have been a bit of history repeating himself, Spacey having won his second Oscar under Mendes' direction (American Beauty).

Rush, I know Bond works for MI-6. I was saying that the TV MI-5 has also mishandled minority representations. Give me some credit ;0)

But I do love Kevin Spacey. Strange though, in that he spoofed Blofield in Austin Powers.

You got me.

Didn't her people once rule Bajor??? Or am I thinking of something else??

It's funny. My spellchecker always tries to turn "Cardassian" into "courtesan"--which seems strangely appropriate in this instance! :)

Greg, have you tried clicking "Add To Dictionary"? I find it most convenient when writing "Klingon", "Cardassian", "Ezri", "Romulan"....

Indeed.... Okay, I'll accept that.

Dr. Evil in a Bond film? I can just imagine Daniel Craig's Bond listening to the man's evil plot to hold the world ransom for..."ONE...BILLION...DOLLARS--"

(Wait...that's not as much as it used to be. Okay--)

"ONE...HUNDRED...BILLION...DOLLARS!!!

Bond stares blankly at Dr. Evil for a moment...and then shrugs and walks out, muttering, "Doesn't M have something better for me to do...?"

Folks...you are going to LOVE this.

Guess who is VERY interested in playing a Bond Girl:

I'd say, "DISCUSS!!!"...but that's the language of spammers.

Personally, I think we're comming close to seeing a BIT too much of Miss Cardassian (sorry, I couldn't resist)...but who knows? She could actually turn out to be a great actress...eh?

Nah....

We've already had Denise Richards. What's the difference?

^Well, I actually had no problem with Miss Richards's acting in TWINE. Frankly, I've always wondered why so many Bond fans dismiss her skills. She seemed fine to me....

As for Kim Cardassian...well, the only acting stint I've seen her in is that Super Bowl Sketchers commercial.

Which isn't much for judging her acting skills....

On another note: What do you all say about Hugh Laurie as a Bond Villain for the NEXT Craig film? He certainly has this line down pat....

I could imagine his scruffy "Q" barging through the double doors with a team of assistants.

Assistant One- What triggered the phone to shortout?

Assistant two- EMP?

Q- It's never EMP.

Apparently, Daniel Craig's girlfriend is in talks to play a Bond Girl for the next film.

Awesome--and appropriate, especially if, say, she plays a "Tracy"-type character. Perhaps, in this reboot, she could be a recurring Bond Girl until Bond finally marries her...and Mr. White has her killed off, or something....

I like the idea of Colin Salmon as Q. He could even be his old character (Charles Robinson), now promoted to head the Quartermaster division.

^Except it can't be a promotion from his position in the "old" fims, since they were all in a different timeline. Remember, Casino Royale is supposed to be Bond's first mission as a "00".

Thank you Laser Beam! I would rather have some sort of fudge on Salmon as the way they kept Dench as M rather than loose Robinson. They could even make a pun- Should I call him Q...or R? :)

Well, by that reasoning--have John Cleese as Q!

Of course...he might be too "goofy" for the harder-edged Craig films.

But frankly...one could say we've already seen Q in the Craig films. There's the guy in Casino who put the implant in Bond. ("Ow.")

Or maybe one of the two guys guiding Bond with the defibrilator. (I'm personally rooting for the older one, with the greying hair. The other guy is "R". :p)

Or maybe the guy in Quantum who briefs Bond and M on the marked bills.
