the big bang theory "the benefactor factor"

She's called him many things over the years.. broken toy was actually one of the nicer variants

Whenever Wolowitz displays his creepy sex-maniac persona Penny is always disgusted and has a comment. The only reason she puts up with him is that apart from that he's a good guy.. it's just the creepy candy coating she despises ;)

^Like I said I understand why she would say that, it did fit her personality to say something. But "broken toy" was weird, not something she would say. Not something that even made sense really. It sounded too...sophisticated for her or something, just not something that would come out of her mouth.

^ She's been hanging out with them... she's picking up sophistication and wider ideas for insults.

I found the book:

Hofstadter's Law: Any sufficiently advanced human is indistinguishable from a robot.

AKA: A thesis on the advanced intelligence of the Doctor Sheldon Cooper humanoid avatar.

this week's episode is called the cohabitation formulation.

:guffaw:*spoiler* wolowitz want to take things to the next leval with bernadette.
and Raj's sister is back yes she's so hot.

who thinks bernadette is a hottie ? If she would lose the nerd look she would be hotter than penny .

currently reading buffy the vampire slayer tales of the slayer vol.2 and star wars knight errant.:drool::drool:

currently watching smallville season 4 and supernatural season 4 :adore::adore::adore:

Good episode, as always. Love this show. I did think, however, that the dialogue for Sheldon seemed slightly off this episode. Actually for Penny as well. Like when she tells Wolowitz that he's "a broken toy." And when Sheldon was making sarcastic jokes about Leonard when in the past we've been led to believe that he doesn't enjoy or understand them all that well. Don't get me wrong, it was still a funny episode, but it felt like maybe they had a different writer doing the dialogue for these characters this time or something.

Well, just this very second I finished watching this episode and, I have to say, in just two short weeks I have now seen the ENTIRE series up to the current episode. I broke my usual rule of "No US s(h)itcoms" because EVERYONE I knew was telling me this show was VERY good.

I have to say, it IS!

As to the above poster saying Sheldon does not get jokes - sorry - not true.

Having just watched the entire series in an EXTREMELY compressed amount of time I can tell you that Sheldon's development is VERY noticeable. He goes from understanding jokes("BAZZINGA!!!")to actually starting to use sarcasm aagainst others.

It is ENTIRELY plausible and the writing is showing gradual and VERY good and real character growth over the seasons.

This is a VERY good show!

^I agree that he has made growth on this topic. But in this episode the kind of jokes he made and the exact phrasing of the words coming out of his (and other characters' mouths) just seemed off. I feel like I'm repeating myself in this thread. I would buy that it was just a part of character growth if it hadn't seemed very different from even just the previous episode, but it did. It wasn't a huge deal but something I made a mental note of while watching the show. I wasn't the only one that noticed in my household, others who watched the episode agreed that the way sentences were structured and particular vocabulary that was used just seemed different, as if you had gone from one writing style to another.

just letting you know what I am reading and watching . okay .
after supernatural I am gong to check into the saraha jane smith adventures on dvd.

Timothy, start a thread for "What Are You Watching Now?" instead of derailing this thread about TBBT. Just an idea before other people start moaning and complaining.

Or start a blog.

Back on topic: This show has kinda lost its charm with me. In previous seasons, I would constantly laugh hysterically. This year all I've been able to muster are a few jovial chuckles.

I've actually found HIMYM to be the funnier show of late.

Indeed.

But to be fair, from his writing and poor grammatical use, I'd say timothy is one of our younger posters. There is a predilection amongst the more social networking young to feel that others want to know what they're watching, playing, eating, doing tonight, what their last bowel movement consisted of, so on and so on, etc, etc, ad infinitum.

Older posters may find this annoying or maybe just perplexing.

It's the generational gap.

I think that the 4th season of TBBT is pretty bad too. They should get rid of the female Sheldon and stick with the main characters. Also, the humor recently is mostly of the toilet variety ...

And I've always found HIMYM to be the funnier than just about everything that's now on TV. In my list of the funniest shows I've ever seen its on the top with Arrested Development and Married With Children.

Since theres no TBBT thread for the latest episode I thought I would post in here...

I really enjoyed tonights episode ans the sitcom is on a clear roll at the moment and banishing any worries over some of the back half of season 3 and early season 4. I think Amy is becoming her own character and the overall show has addressed the issue I had last year with the cast being too small with too few recurring characters.

All the female characters becoming a 2nd group is nice and also seeing more of Howards relationship was good. Amy tonight really sold me on her cast listing she seems to be everything Sheldon isn't and gets human behaviour, even if she still can go around it in a unnormal way. Its nice shes a female Sheldon but not an exact copy and at the moment, the show just feels very balanced ;)

I did notice last night that the gags have all but given up on science & sci fi jokes and moved more into sex/relationship jokes. I think they should tip that balance back the other way.

well I found out that amy is played by the girl who was blossom . I think that is how you spell it . any way she was on atos yesterday promoting the show . she also mentioned a jewish holiday that is simmilar to holloween and her family is going as the justice league of america .

I think theres only so many science jokes you can do ;) though I would love a little more geek-ish stuff like that Indiana Jones ep earlier in the season

That was bloody funny :techman:. I was dissapointed we never really got a Star Trek movie episode back in 2009

I know . They went to antartica did'nt they . and, they all most killed sheldon.
I am hoping they do a green Lantern episode when it comes out.
And , what is sheldon's deal with babylon 5 .

That is something that doesn't ring true to me and never has.

Sheldon SHOULD like very niche SF shows/things. It makes him even more marginalized. Very similar to his "STV is much better than ST:TMP" rant from very early on. Besides the fact that the logic/writing was COMPLETELY WRONG on that(he said STV beats TMP is almost every capacity - music, SFX, set design" - sorry but wrong, wrong, WRONG, WRONG and WROOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!), it would have made more sense to have Sheldon SUPPORTING TMP(a film Joe Sixpack hates)against, say, the more populist STIV(a film mundanes really liked back in the day).

It was just very "off".
