Your Hometown in Haiku

Oswego, NY
Lake effect snow storms.
Crazy with cabin fever.
Pray for early spring.

Mine's a riddle too, though, admittedly, not very difficult.

Wheedle in the sky,
Basking in the pouring rain.
May this be love? Nah.
Um, your "riddle" isn't difficult because your "location" says Brooklyn.
I've lived in NYC for 10 years, but it's not my hometown. The riddle is about my hometown, and has nothing to do with Brooklyn.

Here's one for a place close to my soul. I don't have a real "hometown"--didn't grow up in one place, but this one place really "spoke" to me for a haiku.

Shots flew April fourth
Set neighbor against neighbor
Hope--rain--blues in May

For a place that tries its damnedest to be unlovable sometimes...there's still something special there that just won't let go. Lots of complex feelings here.

And a Jimi Hendrix song!
I didn't even think of that.

Memphis?

Oh, Mississauga
Mayor Hazel will not leave
God bless the old girl.

Bloody hell, is Hazel still there? She'd been going for years when I moved from Etobicoke in 1995. The woman's immortal.

As to my hometown...

A busy island
In a large, flowing river
Parlez vous Francais?
