Fantastic Four is now Future Foundation

Maybe Johnny comes back after someone punches the walls of time.

Adding Spidey to the Fantastic Four is odd. We trade one wisecracking young hero for another.

When does Spidey have time to be Peter Parker any more? He's a solo super-hero, he's on two Avengers teams, and now he's with the FF. Doesn't leave a lot of time for Peter Parker shenanigans.

Gah! Six or twelve issues from now (whichever works best for a trade-paperback edition), Johnny will be back and the name will be back. It's this kind of nonsense stunt that has put me off the comics for (at least) the time being.

Exactly, I can hear the cow from here. They kill off batman and Superman and everyone else only to bring them back in a few issues.

I think they're already setting up Johnny's return before it happened; Valeria's curious alliance with Doom. Or, Adult Franklin and Adult Valeria.

Besides, we didn't actually see him die.

I really don't read Marvel any more. But I will say that I consider this much more interesting than Mark Millars complete mishandling of the FF.

One of the worst drawings of the Thing I've ever seen by a pro. Face and bodytype are totally wrong. The white costumes have this weird sprayed on Storm Trooper look crossed with Bond villain henchmen.

Costumes as bad as the leather era X-Men. If not for Hickmans brilliant writing I would not even crack this book open. However the man has revitalized the FF so I will stick with it. Not happy with Spidey on the team(or any team really) he doesnt really add anything unique.

Personally, I love the new name. People are cynical.

Future Foundation resonates with the early 1960s optimism that the Fantastic Four have always seemed to carry with them, sliding timeline or not.

The thing is, I'd like to see this carried on even if/when Johnny comes back. I've always thought that the FF seemed to strangely shun being the leaders they were meant to be (in my view). The FF, as "out" super heroes and adventurers, who operate publicly with real names, a headquarters in public, and efforts to help the world in numerous ways besides punching bad guys, have always seemed like the unofficial leaders of the super hero community in the Marvel world. (Guys like Captain America are figureheads.)

Essentially, they are to the rest of the adventurers and metahumans what the Xavier school is to mutants.

So why not begin to act more like it? Build it up into a dynasty and expand horizons. When Johnny comes back, he doesn't have to disrupt the foundation, just find a new place in it.

^Except out in public with real names no longer applies thanks to Spidermans inclusion. Would rather have had one of the old Thunderbolts take Torchs place, maybe Mach IV. That would have added something to the team they have never had before.

Like the name, like the costumes, like the art. I find it peculiar that Hickman is changing things so radically in the fiftieth year, though. Maybe it's in recognition of the FF's whole looking-to-the-future vibe.

Yawn. This will last five minutes. I can't believe people still fall for these "events".

Agreed. It's a good drawing of somebody (clearly photographically based)... but it sure ain't the Thing.

Wow could they not have tried harder to make Spidey not look like anti-Venom.

It's bad enough that Spidey can't really wear the black suit cause of the similarity to Venom, even after the tweaks made during the symbiotes Thunderbolt time.

This kind of reminds me of Peter's Negative Zone costume from Shattered Dimensions. It amuses me how cyncial comic book fans have become. Almsot nothing is pleasing any more.

just once, i'd like someone to come along, do a superhero series and kill off a load of the cast AND NOT BRING THEM BACK. and do a big-ass world-changing story that sticks for more than 2 or 3 years.
