No Ordinary Family: Season 1 on ABC - Discussion & Spoilers

I thought it was a decent episode. I liked the two competing hero teams. And the intangible villain (Earl's brother really has slimmed down). We learn that Daphne can now not only read minds but manipulate them as well. That presents a new wrinkle and a temptation that she quickly succumbs too. Not sure how that places her on the likability scale, but it makes sense that anyone would use that power if they had it I suppose.

The creepy Josh is busted, but also has mind controlling powers. I didn't realize he had those before. Stephen Collins is shaping up to be a worthy villain.

They should've gotten to this episode sooner. Might've helped for them to actually do what people want to see in a superhero show that Heroes failed to do in four seasons.

Though we still don't know what the ultimate plan is for the big bad. And since he knows their powers it seems like his time on the show is coming to an end even though he's been underdeveloped.

Remember about 3 episodes ago Josh erased 3 months of Daphne's memories?

Pacific Bay is such a small town!

The double standard theme was more interesting and well handled. Most domestic sitcoms would religiously avoid a theme that might be construed as mildly critical of society.
As well as flirting with villainy on the part of a main character. But rest assured, the power of the family will save Daphne from the Dark Side.:techman:

Have we even gotten any insight into what BIG BAD's master plan is? He seems to be creating superpowered people... and then letting them run around on their own free will? Shouldn't he just kill Josh if he can't control him?

It does seem a bit strange. I mean, obviously there's something there which prevents his subjects from using their powers on him. But then it doesn't stop them from hurting him in other ways.

JJ's choosing the wrong girl, even though people say Becky is a bitch she has seemed quite nice in the last couple of episodes.

The double standard theme was well-handled. I'm guessing Daphne is going to become very manipulative until there' some bad even which reminds her to use her powers responsibly.

Joshua is becoming more and more interesting every week.

Yeah, Joshua has come a long way from being a Sylar copy. I am wondering if the "big bad" has had mental blocks put into the test subjects ala "Robocop" or does he have a meta power that prevents other's powers being used against him?

Dr. King orders Victoria to use her abilities to slip into the Powell home and kill one member of the family. Meanwhile, JJ and Daphne investigate the death of Natalie's mother.

also shouldnt it be Cyclops & Jean Grey?

Cyclops and Emma Frost.

Jean's been dead for 8 years (New X-Men 150.).

People think they can write comic references into tv because they read shit ten years ago. Comics are a living book like that never ending story hocus, the...

In castle I almost squeed last year when some one said "red lantern" but then there was a fumble when Castle's returning quip was "Green Lantern got some sunburn."

"Sigh"

And her Powerman and Ironfist implication that they are big gay lovers kinda from a week back scoots around the fact that Luke got married 3 or 4 years ago to Jessica Jones and they're squeezing out kids, the first of which may or may not have been replaced by a Skrull infiltrator... Unless Jessica's a beard?

at this point jim really needs a mask and costume! it dosent need to be flashy, just hide his features.

Which dead presidents mask?

(I have no idea what ever happened to my Ronald Reagan mask and it's pissing me off.)

Still watching this show, but it's hard not to scream at the obvious plot holes and logical fallacies.

There's a conversation earlier in the episode which points out that the lab has cameras yet when Stephanie zips into the lab and then Jim rips the walls apart, no one thinks to check the buildings cameras before leaving?

They're like the worst supers ever.

I keep wanting this show to be the Incredibles, but the characters just don't think it through.

I would imagine the bad guy's plan is to perfect the super powers and sell it to the military for mongo cash.

I'm still watching the show, too. And, yeah, it's not perfect, but I'm still enjoying it. I'll see how this season plays out before I make a decision.
