Now that the 4 Typhon Pact novels have been released, what is the future for the continuation of this storyline.

I know the TP storyline will be mentioned in a couple of books this year but in regards to the larger storyline we have nothing concrete.

I am concerned that with the editorial upheaval at Pocket Books there is no one to shepherd the overall trek franchise novel line up and develop the next series of books for the ongoing storylines.

I wish Marco would return to sort out this mess.

What mess? There are books scheduled for every month that just about cover every series/time frame/preference.

I doubt very much that anything bad will happen to the current storylines. They've obviously been popular (or they wouldn't have continued on as long as they have) and at this point it would be pretty stupid to just suddenly stop them.

There's an editor who took over the Trek line months ago at Pocket.

    Is there?

From what I've read on here the last editor left due to family comitmets and there hasn't really been much said on who has replaced her.

Do we have a name for who has filled this seemingly jinxed position?

One name does keep cropping up in the acknowledgements of the recent books.

    And that would be whom?

I only ask as I've not got access to my book collection right this moment.

Unfortunately I don't either but I seem to recall it was a woman.

Well if it was Jamie something or other, she left due to the family commitments.

Yes her name is Jamie Costas.

My concern is that the larger storylines will get left by the wayside without someone running the overall Treklit line in favour of single storyline books that can be edited freelance.

There is someone running the overall Trek lit line. The new editor was already in place well before the general public even became aware of Jaime Costas's departure. It's just that the new editor prefers to remain anonymous.

^ So...you authors know, but aren't at liberty to tell us?

    I'm not seeing any "mess".

Other than Destiny, there has never been a "larger storyline" in Treklit. DS9 and New Frontier (and the Shatnerverse) did their own ongoing stories, everything else was totally standalone. The various series' only crossed over in one-off events that were never mentioned again nor built up to beforehand (Double Helix, Gateways etc). Was that a "mess"?

Enough with the doom and gloom already! Can't you stop worrying about the future and just enjoy the books for what they are?

Jamie was not the name. Most of the books in the Typhon series acknowledged four people - Marco, Margaret, Jamie and the fourth one whose name I cannot remember.

I dunno about the other authors but I'm just getting amusement out of it all.

Look at the credits in Star Trek Magazine. Or wait for the acknowledgements in IFM...

Yeah, wasn't it something you said in a thread a few months back that let slip?

I for one never assumed that there wasn't an Editor in "overall" charge of the Trek Lit line.

No. I simply mentioned Jaime by name in one sentence and referred to "my editor" in a later sentence. Allyn Gibson read that and jumped to a coincidentally correct conclusion. I was doing my very best to be discreet, to respect the wishes of Pocket that the information be kept anonymous. Allyn just made a lucky guess. Full credit to him for that. But I would never deliberately betray a confidence.

Wow, you are touchy on this subject. I said let slip, I didn't say you deliberately did anything.

Yet you let slip that the last editor had left. Good job there then Chris.
