Did anyone watch SNL last night? It wasn't too bad actually.

Dana Carvey hosted. And predictably he resurrected some of his recurring characters from his years on the show. Thought it was pretty cool seeing Mike Myers back as Garth in the opening Wayne's World skit, even though said skit wasn't that funny.

Much better was Carvey's Church Lady skit, which did have a few funny jabs at current reality TV stars. Though it fell apart when they got Justin Bieber on there and made Church Lady go all gaga over him.

Other then that there were some cute skits. It was certainly a better episode than they normally put out, but that's not really saying much. Still, it kept my interest unlike most SNL these days does.

Did they do a McLaughlin Group sketch? That was my favorite bit that Carvey ever did on the show.

I liked seeing Church Lady and Wayne's World again (even if Mike Myers looked laughably old in the wig), but overall I thought the episode was actually weaker than most of this season. The last half of the episode went nowhere.

I always liked Dana Carvey - it's too bad his post-SNL career really didn't go anywhere. All I can think of is the godawful Master of Disguise and the botched heart surgery. :-\

It's a bit sad that the best stuff was back in 1993. After "Update" the show quality dropped fast with all their original material.

The celebrity help line skit was pretty good too. If only because SNL has some gifted impressionists with this cast. And yeah, I agree, it did go downhill after Update, but then again it usually does.

I didn't care for Linkin Park's performances at all. They used to be a group I really liked but they've put me off with most of the stuff they've been releasing lately.

I hope this means there will be other 90's alumni hosting SNL eventually like Mike Meyers or Kevin Nealon or Norm McDonald or Tim Meadows.

I was in college from 86 - 90, and the Carvey, Myers, Hartman era was so great in so many ways for me. That said, I had to turn it off after Church Chat.
Wayne's World does not age well, seeing Myers and Carvey in those wigs some 20 + years older was a little pathetic.
I never did care for Church Chat when it was new, it's a one-note joke that worked great the first time, but got old fast.

Had I not had to get up early and start cooking for the Superbowl party I probably would have watched more, or at least got off my ass to set the DVR, but I didn't

I forgot Dana Carvey was going to be on and missed it. I saw the Wayne's World skit on YouTube though. It's nice to see them back 20 years later.

From an earlier episode, but how pathetic was the writing on the Eisenberg/Zuckerberg meet? Eisenberg tells Zuckerberg "I thought you were really good on 60 Minutes", which was the perfect setup to a pretty funny joke, wherein Zuckerberg would reply, "Thanks, and I thought you were awesome in Zombieland."

But instead... Zuckerberg just said "thanks", and stood around awkwardly. No joke followed, they just moved on and left.

WTF?! :vulcan:

But Eisenberg was in Zombieland. Where was the punchline in your joke? Was it supposed to be a Michael Cera joke? I'm confused. Maybe I missed something.

I am not sure if anyone can resurrect this show. I think this show sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just seeing them on stage together was impressive enough. Never thought I'd see that.

They just don't have the talent they once had. Even 5 years ago they had some better talent.

Eisenberg congratulating Zuckerberg on playing himself implicitly invites Zuckerberg to congratulate Eisenberg for playing him, so by praising his role in a different, non-Academy Award-winning movie, there'd have been a good joke (the humor of red herrings). But no. :p

He career didn't go downhill until after Wayne's World II (sadly, his co-star is in the doldrums as well.)
