What are some of your favorite "I Love Lucy" moments?

Most of mine, I believe, are not some of the more famous ones that you always see or hear about, except of course, when she was stomping the grapes and doing the commercial for the product I am not even going to attempt to spell.

One that really made me laugh was from the episode "Lucy Cries Wolf," where she tries to trick Ricky into thinking the place is being burglarized, but her plan is later foiled by a neighbor and Ricky discovers the truth. Lucy is sulking in the hallway over the whole thing when two real burglars come and carry her away. Ricky, Fred, and Ethel are inside listening to her scream for help, thinking she's simply pulling a prank.

It's easily one of the funniest damn things watching Lucy getting carried away by the two men, trying to squirm her away out of their arms, but failing miserably while screaming, "Ricky! HEEEEEELP! HEEEEELP!"

Another favorite comes from the later incarnation, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. The Ricardos and Mertzes go to Alaska to survey some property they bought. They end up splitting a suite with Red Skelton, but the sleeping arrangements are pretty bare. Lucy is having to sleep in a hammock and is having a really tough time staying it. She falls out of it about three or four times before finally settling in, only to have fall out two more times because Mr. Skelton keeps opening the door the hammock happens to be hooked to enter the room and continuously knocks Lucy out of it.

The hammock routine was one we've seen done endlessly in other films and TV series, but there was just something extra hysterical when LUCY did it.

I love anything that Fred does.

Fred gave me a huge laugh the other day, something I never noticed.

The famous scene when they scramble to take Lucy to the hospital when she goes into labor. Ricky starts putting Lucy's coat on Fred. Fred's actually allowing Ricky to do it, but then shouts, "DON'T PUT THE COAT ON ME!"

:guffaw:

I have actually never seen the show, but I love the word 'Vitameatavegamin'. I find myself wondering what it would taste like...

Mine is not typical...Lucy in Hollywood, doing her Harpo Marx disguise. The whole mirror bit is wonderful. But Harpo playing "Take me out to the Ballgame" on the harp is brilliant.

I like when Lucy and Ethel are in the candy shop and the chocolates keep coming and coming really fast. IIRC they wound up eating a lot of them and a lot spilled all over.

Or the time Lcy made bread with way too much yeast and it just kept coming out of the over...sucker must've been 20 feet long...

Two words, one name : George Reeves.

GR/Superman : You've been married to her for fifteen years?

Ricky : Yeah.

GR : (Laughing) And They Call Me Superman!

The freezer episode is up there with the chocolate conveyor and the vitameatavegemin commercial and the grape stomping episodes, at least in my mind.

One of the Hollywood episodes...the one with John Wayne. They pry his cemented footprints loose and it ends up getting broken. They finagle a replacement and that gets broken. In the very end, Wayne shows up with 4 replacements just in case 3 more get broken.

Lots of fun moments in this show. My favorite is probably one of the hour long shows with Tallulah Bankhead. There's a scene where Lucy goes over to Tallulah's to apologize and they end up fighting again and chewing up the scenery the whole way. Just quoting the dialogue doesn't do it justice.

T: "My dear girl, would you kindly leave the premises before I grab your pink hair and pull it out by its black roots!"
L: "Are you asking me to leave?"
T: "Throwing you out would be more like it!"
L: "Well, I've been thrown out of better places than this!!!"
T: "You have NEVER BEEN to better places than THIS!!!"

My two favorite things from I Love Lucy:

The time when they stop at Ethel's hometown on the way to California and the "Favorite Daughter" love starts making Ethel obnoxious and the others threaten to continue on without her. Then when she asks how she's supposed to get there, fred says, "Don't worry! The studio will probably send a special train for a BIG star like you!"

The other is when Lucy and Ricky are living in the country and Lucy decides to use a riding mower to get at a patch of lawn Ricky keeps forgetting to do and she ends up on the highway. I die when Ethel and Ricky both respond to her tale, "YOU WENT THE WRONG WAY DOWN THE BOSTON POST ROAD?!" :guffaw:

Oh god, I forgot all about that one. I love watching Lucy do that flawless imitation of how Tallulah speaks.

"I wouldn't even lower myself to try to get even with a wacky character like you!"

"All you can do is, 'HA HA HA HA DAHHHHHHH-LING!'"

:guffaw:

What I think is even funnier from that episode that most people never mention is the reason they were working in the candy shop is they made a bet with the guys that they could switch roles easily so the guys had to cook. They tried to cook rice and ended up pouring several pounds into the pot. Needless to say the rice did a blob imitation and Fred and Ricky are desperately trying to scoop the rice up as it's pouring out of the pot. they end up rolling on the floor in a rice bath.
