Don't you just hate it when...

...you press the 'eject optical disc' button on your computer but it still takes ages before the tray actually opens?

^That's what I'm currently hating at full thrust! --I'm in the process of uploading a lot of videos from optical discs to a NAS-device... never before have I hated those minute-long seconds it sometimes takes for an optical drive to respond to the eject command :klingon:

What else do you just hate?

Mine is ejecting by itself which is bugging me.

I also hate people who pick their nose and take great fasination in their snot before moving onto the wax in their ears using the same finger.

Hmm. That could get pretty messy. They better eat the snot before digging around in their ears... :p

You hate it, Saul? Exactly how often are you encountering this behavior? If it's more than once every 25 years, I'd stop hanging out at the the toddler daycare.

Computer programs which take ages to exit. Look, Visual Studio, I'm not asking you to do anything difficult. Just cancel the build so I can start it over again now that I've fixed something. It shouldn't take 30 seconds to cancel.

It's similar to how some some products have inanimate lumps of metal in them to give an illusion of quality through weight.

I am currently hating UPS and their inability to deliver my package. It's UPS. Delivering packages is kind of their thing. Yes, I realize there was a blizzard this week and that has delayed them, but their Package Tracking system keeps lying to me.

Tues: Will be delivered by the end of the day...no package
Wed: Blizzard...okay, fine.
Thurs: Will be delivered by the end of the day...no package
Today: Wil be delivered by the end of the day...still waiting, but I am not hopeful

I hate it when you get a major bargain on an eBay auction, and then the seller manages to "coincidentally" lose or damage the item... And you know they did it only because they didn't want to let the item go for cheap.

Sometimes, but not always, if you go to (assuming you're using Windows) Computer, right click the drive, and select Eject -- it will open when it normally won't.

My free'whatever' box which just gives me additional Asian network and Cbbeeies. Which is also the DVD player but seems to have 'senior moments' so when you press open it just sits there saying 'sorry what did you say?'

Report them! Or even better put them up on the 'discussion group' ~ their life will be hell

I buy and sell on Ebay quite a bit. I've got some fab bargains but I've also sold stuff for a lot less than I wished.
It's an auction, you take your chance, but you should never be allowed to renege on a deal.

Or you don't put the cd in correctly and the disc drawer stop half way as the mechanism try to close it on your half protruding cd.

PC wise my pet hate of all time is the Bios not booting, and then you spend the next hour wiggling everything......and then on the 32nd press it boots.....whats that all about.

Yep! I've sold a few things that went for less than I expected, but a deal is a deal. One usually makes up for it when buying from another seller and gets a really good bargain.

(1) Heat stress. As the electronics warms up and cools down each day, metal contacts will expand and contract, and can develop microfractures and/or separate just enough to break a connection. Once the electronics is warm, expansion brings the contacts together and it works normally.

(2) Electrolytic Capacitor FailureA common fault in power supplies (easily replaceable), or capacitors on the motherboard (not easily replaceable). When the caps get hot, the solvent in the electrolyte will slowly evaporate, changing it's electrostatic properties. This leads to voltage drifts, and bios will be unhappy to boot the system. This too can have temperature as a cofactor.

Windows is great for this. Program hangs, so you go to task manager and press end program. Forty-five seconds later, you get a dialogue box that says ... "program not responding." No, really?

True.

You have to do your homework though. A friend wanted me to sell a wedding dress for her on Ebay and the market is poor ~ you cannot compete with the Chinese (disclaimer ~ or any other country that can sell at a reasonable price and do free postage) so it was not a viable proposition.

Best time to sell or buy on Ebay I've found is Friday nights ~ people are bored.

I see it on the trains over here. More than once a week. Grown men. They sit right beside me or infront of me and dig into their nostril. I want to grab their hand in mid air and say "just don't ok? don't". One guy I saw last week was a flicker and he didn't care where he flicked it. I will usually walk to the next train carriage in disgust until someone there starts doing the same thing.

Mine is ejecting by itself which is bugging me.

A little delay is better than premature ejectulation.
Not if I want to sleep early it isn't.

Alternatively, you can also try, if that fails:

RUN
services.msc

Find the program, and Stop.
