Should I join Facebook?

I heard that in the next two weeks if you do not prove yourself an active member they will delete your account to make room because there are so many (too many) facebook accounts. I don't know if I want to continue it because really almost never use fb.
I have been member of Facebook for sometime now.
I knowledge the benefit of keeping touch with friends and family that live far away..and I have even found some long lost friends from there(Though I have confess that I talked with some of the more back when they had msn/Yahoo messenger..)
Otherwise FB gets boring easily..I dont even play the games much anymore. I dont even update my status much these days, because my posts became boring and generic.
Nobody seems the read the links I post. Maybe its because I have around 35 friends there..a number that makes me look like a facebook-loser, at least the the people who seem to have 200-500 friendsAt least I pretty much know most of my friends from "real life"
Or maybe I am just plain and dull person..
I have added couple of "unknows" as friends
I sendt one of them a "Hi,how are you doing?" without getting any reply

Though I have been.While I have my privacy settings up quite high, a jealous friend's ex keep taking pictures of my secretly and putting them up. And FB won't do anything, they only interfere re: nudity, theft etc.
Still, even though now FB claims you can send them a msg and they'll delete everything, now that I'm there, I stay to keep an eye on what they're doing. After all, sometimes when they change privacy (but not always) their default settings are set to keep everything wide open!

I never post photos of anyone on FB without their permission.

Sir Squeak and Bob Lecheval are fine with it and Son has over 600 photos on his FB so I reckon he's fair game
I think the thing to remember is, unfortunately, anything on the Net is "open view".
It's not FB's fault or the Nets ~ it's your friend's fault.

It's a whole other level of time drain... but, it can be either good or bad, depending upon how you use it and what people are in your circle.
I'm on it, but went AWOL for almost a year. Not happy with a number of things going on in my life, I wasn't in the mood to chat about it with anybody on-line. But there's always that persistent "Hey, how are you doing?" inquiry from people on FB. I couldn't take it any more and just turned off the ability for anybody to comment on my wall or see me on-line. But then, that's an anti-social grave that gets deep before you know it, if a lot of people you know are on FB.
Unfortunately, it becomes a social obligation to be on FB. But, if you "meter" your participation right, it can be an asset and not a detriment. I can personally vouch for not participating as being a disadvantage. So yeah, get on it... but use it conservatively if you treasure your free time.

Maybe I have more interesting friends than some but I don't get boring feeds about what someone have for breakfast etc.
Instead I get some very interesting feeds from pages I have joined. One of my favourite is the page of Sirocco Kakapo who is the Spokesbird for Conservation in New Zealand.
Today his feed brought good news.
This is good news especially as the death of two elderly kakapo this month had bought the entire population of the species down to only 120 individuals.

I've set it now to where absolutely nothing shows. I've deleted all of my games, quotes and likes, personal info, et al, but I'm keeping all my friends so that I can always stay in contact with people. I don't really trust Facebook itself, but I have to say it's the best way to keep in touch.

Anyway, upon further consideration, I restored most of my stuff and opened the page to most viewers. One, too many people kept asking me why my Facebook page was empty, and two, I missed making comments.
I still don't play the games, though. I got tired of Zynga and the like long ago.

I don't have any privacy settings set up on my FB page. All of my profile and pictures are out in the open for all to see. Anyone looking for me, whether from the distant past to the present, can easily find me, check out my profile and see everything I'm into and have been doing, and from that they can decide if they want to send me a friend request or if that little glimpse of me satisfies their curiosity. Saves me a lot of time and eliminates a lot of questions.
Well, if you had to think about it, I'd say no.
I neither hate nor love FB. It's good that I'm able to communicate with long-distance and old acquaintance, or even people I don't normally get to interact with on a daily basis. Sharing pictures, happenings, and insights can be satisfying, but I'm not really into Farmville or other games.Similar threads
