Worst movie titles?

The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It.

Yes, this is an actual movie.
Yes, I did feel like vomiting after I read it.
Yes, I have every desire to see it.

Attack of the Clones. I know Lucas has an affinity for B-Films but honestly. Phantom Menace was bad as well. The fans came up with better titles.

Serenity. Granted, it has meaning to fans of Firefly, but is the general public really going to identify the title Serenity with an action sci-fi film? I personally think the title is part of the reason for the poor box office reception.

I think the alt title is "Bruce Campbell versus the Army of Darkness"... because it would be Sam Rami's Army of Darkness wouldn't it?

Yeah, Serenity sounds like one of those videos meant to be used as moving wallpaper. A bunch of pretty sunsets and landscapes accompanied by pan flute music.

Is this "Worst Movie Titles"? or "Non-Generic movie Titles"? I like most of the ones listed. So what if some of them are long or a bit creative. The only one that really sticks out is I Still Know What You Did Last Summer for reasons already mentioned. The Shawshank Redemption is a little unusual too. And I'm surprised no one mentioned Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. I like it, but it's consistent with the "it's too long" mentality.

As for Attack of the Clones, I like that one too. It's far, far better than "The Clone Wars" which everyone seems to like and which is about as generic, redundant and bland as you can get. If Episode II had been called "The Clone Wars", I would have nominated that as worst title ever. I'll let it go for the cartoon, but I'm glad it wasn't a movie title.

The old Dirk Benedict horror flick, "Ssssss!"
There's a movie about a small town being attacked by ravens and it's called Kaw.

Any title that uses a plus sign for the conjunction “and,” e.g. Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (that’s the film’s official title).

I saw a cartoon where a movie theater owner is complaining about the double feature he booked; it says "Out of Business" and "Closed for Renovations" on the marquee.

How about the bad subtitle?

City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze
Highlander 2: The Quickening
The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (of course, the movie wasn't even supposed to be called Bad Lieutenant anyway since it's not a remake, but leave it to studio executive genius)

Serenity. Granted, it has meaning to fans of Firefly, but is the general public really going to identify the title Serenity with an action sci-fi film? I personally think the title is part of the reason for the poor box office reception.

I've thought about this too, but what better titles are there? Firefly: The Movie? A little twee-sounding for general audiences, methinks. Space Pioneers? The Wrath of Tam?

Superficially, I agree, but then I remember that in the movie, the clones were the good guys, so it becomes Attack of the Good Guys, which is pretty dumb. If the clones had been bad, I would have had no problem whatsoever with Attack of the Clones.

I thought the movie couldn't be called Firefly since it wasn't from the same studio that made the TV show.

What's wrong with The Legend of Curly's Gold? I can understand if it were The Legend of the Golden Curlies, it might sound like it's about some old dude's pubic hair.

^

And yet, somehow, I just can't picture koalas and sugar gliders as being a terribly threatening species.

The Chronicles of Reynolds?

...

I think Firefly would have been better if only for brand-recognition. People might be like "oh, that's that show that the internet people like so much, let's see what the fuss is about" and not "Serenity? Sounds boring."

Story checks out: Serenity is a Universal picture. I guess that explains that, then.
