Filming of The Hobbit will be delayed after director Sir Peter Jackson was hospitalised with a perforated stomach ulcer.
Jackson was admitted to Wellington Hospital last night with acute stomach pains.
A statement said he had undergone surgery for a perforated ulcer.
"Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery."
Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming, the statement said.

Should stop eating so much metal.

This is the movie that just doesn't want to get made. I'm sure it will be worth it when it comes out, but man... this seems to be cursed.

Give me the script. I'll have this puppy ready in a few weeks. It may go straight to Youtube though.

It's been forever since I read the novel, but I don't remember there being any. Cate Blanchett is set to appear in the movie, so they've somehow managed to work Galadriel into the script.

Dori, Ori and Nori have all been changed to female dwarf characters, and are rumored to be played by Selma Hayek, Jennifer-Love Hewitt, and Hayden Panettiere.

Dirk Benedict has started a campaign petitioning for the characters to be returned to their rightful male gender.

Also, they've included a romance between Bard and Arwen. Bard bears a surprising resemblance to Aragorn, and he dies tragically in the final battle. Arwen later falls in love with Aragorn because he reminds her of her true love, Bard.

I am sitting here at my desk in shock.

I...

don't quite know how I feel about this.

And they don't even have to do camera tricks for height with Panettiere! :p

Unfortunate to hear but not surprising. It was clear in those interviews he gave a few months ago during the union dispute that he was at his wits end. Hope he can rest up and hire some good assistant directors.

I know from personal experience what genuine and prolonged stress can do to a person's health. I once worked with a guy with more problems than I care to name and he ended up with a nasty skin condition and a stomach ulcer. Needing the money, he stubbornly tried to go on working and ignore the ulcer and...well let's just say it ended with him coughing up blood and me having a terrifying trip down the M1. Not fun.

No it's more like the guy has been through SO MUCH shit and had stress upon him we could not even dream of. It's no wonder this has happened - something had to give!

If I were in charge of this movie, I'd have an ulcer, too....and probably a reservation for a padded room.

How I feel about the fact that there are rumours going around that Dori, Ori, and Nori may be changed to female characters.

That wasn't a fact. That was a joke. Caliburn24 was teasing when he said that those characters would be played by sexy actresses. According to IMDb, those characters will be played by Mark Hadlow, Adam Brown, and Jed Brophy respectively.
